How many miles you done on the engine with the greens overfueling and a 3.8bar reg if you had the greens in and not the 3.8 reg while running in it wouldn't have been overfueling as the ecu would compensate for it but with the 3.8reg fitted i don't know if the ecu would be able to pull it back the onloy time the ecu isn't in control is when the car is on boost at a guess of past half throttle the it relys on the map
I would say do the basics first and then go from there pcv plugs compression test and also get the afr in ASAP
I thought the management was on closed loop even at more than 1/2 throttle, thought the change to open was when the throttle was nearly at, and on, full throttle? Also I think the 850's tend to start off in open loop until the o2 sensor has reached a certain point meaning it will rely on preset values for cold fueling which with greens and a 3.8 bar FPR and not mapped for those items will likely mean it's going to over fuel when cold..?
Tbh as I said its just a guess with the half throttle when watching my afr gauge I can see when at about half throttle or just past it jumps to the programed map for fueling as it starts to shoot down quicky from the 14.5 the ecu try's to keep.
Yeah that's what I was trying to say if the green had just been fitted alone the fueling might not have been too bad but with a 3.8bar I don't know what would happen one thing for sure it certainly wouldn't be lean.

easiest way too tell if it has suffered any sort of bore wash is smell the oil, if it smells of petrol then petrol has got thro.

Get a compression test asap Frankie. The fact I saw the name Niles mentioned on this thread doesn't fill me with confidence though from the stories I've heard in the past.

you should get away with a full running in cycle again, 500 miles on mineral oil, oil change and another 500 on mineral, then another 500 on normal oil.

This is what i was going to suggest claymore......but also have the pucker MAF as without this you are still up £££££e street!
Through the years i have run in numerous engines with new rings and ends etc. and even without "glaze busting" one just has to run in fast or quickly with not much load.
Ends and rings only need 200miles running in with Mineral oil. Over this figure you can get a glaze which will not allow bedding in whatever you do, this is why brisk running of the engine is best. A rebore is a completely different matter.
It is the heavy load that will do damage running in because of the extra heat generated, light zippy throttle action is best through the gears, not even constant revs........and as Claymore says change the oil and do another run in before using any synth. oil.
As soon as you use synthetic the running or bedding in process stops straight away!
If none of these methods do any good then it looks like a new set of rings again.....pistons are ok. Rings are designed and made of a suitable material to take the wear away from the bore and being Volvo you can be assured that this is whats happened. Although not really any evidence of real condition of the bores as they wear on the power stroke side and not evenly one can still see hatch marks after thousands of miles with Volvo`s but not with the older type Ford`s etc.
A compression test now and a 1000mls down the road would give an indication of any progress.
