You mean Adam's post, how is his completely mappable, and mine not? My head's starting to hurt now, it's a minefield.

i understand what your saying chris but if a car cant be custom mapped then its time to move on to a car that can be or settle for a generic tune. its that simple. a car that isnt set up is a ticking time bomb.

hasn't it recently came to light even they were removing all the ecu's protective parameters. I even remember reading someone had unplugged the BCS on a S60R & the MTE ecu wasn't fussed nor even threw a cel light, a good idea considering how easily the liners split if the boost is raised

atleast with TT the car can be mapped by a trustworthy tuner, without the need for them to be a Volvo specialist who doesn't want to spend time or money working out how to rewrite the factory ancient technology. Theirs been quite a few people who have got good results with TT, & some without having to pay anyone else to do it

Think the idea is you map it yourself mate yes software might be very similar but it's the skills of a tuner that makes the difference

Are you saying that TT is dog doo doo or the fact that it's been claimed to be the only option there is? I've got a TT on mine and it's allowed me to have mine mapped by a very experienced tuner without having to worry about the costs and time involved in him working out how to map the existing ecu...

Yup its my understanding with ard its not the ecu thats the prob its the lack of effort and knowledge that has been put on the ecu eg mapping and only increasing boost map when theres all sorts that can be done

Think it all depends how easy the software is to use, I'm crap with computers but I've managed to not blow my engine up with the tt....yet, I had no option but to use it.

In what way is this an ARD copy, you do your own mapping, you don't rely on Lucky's dodgy map.

I'd choose a good custom map over tt anyday. Mine must have been faulty though and left me stranded a few times when it randomly wouldn't start.

I know you had a problem with yours, but the ecu I'm using is Dannys old one, and it's been fine on my car.

Adam went down this road because the ARD ecu was so poor for his setup and why it was sold on ebay. Adam has learnt and modified this 4.4 ecu by following the thread on Volvo Speed forum.
