    Possible option a 760GLE saloon

Just been offered a 760GLE saloon cheap.. 2.8 engine by Renault...This was my first initiation in to world of Volvo when I borrowed one for a couple of weeks. I only got 10MPG, but it was a fun car to play with in the wet. I don't think they are powerful (170ish??) and I'm guessing a few BHP will have exited the car by now.

    Anyway .....discuss.....

I haven't actually got the space for it, so I'm just day dreaming at the moment...

Yeah, don't like the 2.8 v6, not a very good engine. Apparently that engine was also used in the Delorean (not the beefy engine that was dubbed over the Back to the Future Delorean)
1996 Olive Green 850 AWD - Follow the Project - Forged rods, 19T, big blue injectors, 960 TB, 3.25" MAF, Ostrich, 608 binary, arduino data display, active exhaust control with Focus RS tips, 320mm front brake conversion.
1996 Nautic Blue 850 AWD - Failed its MOT, now it's a donor for the green thing.

We have a 940gle manual on our estate on a h plate. Sounds smooth as hell, has alloys. Is it likely to be a redblock turbo?
I've really taken to the old volvo's since seeing pictures of smithys & YouTube.

156hp from 1982 - 1986 on mechanical Bosch K-Jet injection (B28E) then from 1987 on it went to Bosch Motronic and gained more power (170hp) the engine was also altered becoming the B280E and internally gained increased compression and better lubrication to the cams, which was a fault of the earlier engine and resulted in early cam failure if servicing schedules weren't adhered to and the correct good quality engine oil grade was used. From around 1988 when the model was facelifted it gained a cat which did affect performance but not greatly, the ideal 760 V6 is a phase 1 pre facelift with the B280E and no cats. All 760 GLE's which is how the V6 was badged, turbo wasn't a GLE and the diesel was called a GLE turbo diesel, were auto with the AW71 transmission which is 3 speed with overdrive. Another important development with the introduction of the phase 2 1987 on model, it became the first Volvo to have an alloy bonnet and the saloon benefitted from a multi link independent rear axle which improved ride and handling. I'd break the arm of the seller off and get it Judge then maybe you can swap it for a 940 turbo estate, wink wink lol
Personally I love them, everyone hates the V6 as it's dubbed a terrible engine but 25 years on and with over 200,000 miles on the clock my parents B28E, the supposedly poorer designed of the V6's was still purring.. Testimony to adhering to the correct service schedule and oil change interval I'd say and it still had it's superb strong low down punch and fantastic sporty engine note, like I said I'd have one tomorrow
