    Its to do with the torque converter oil pressure and valves in the auto box.

    I towed mine many times, never had a problem.

    Don't tow an auto without the driven wheels off the ground or the engine running with the box in neutral unless it's literally round the corner and at slow speeds as you will kill the box! Best and safest route is to always have the driven wheels off the ground imho.

    For clarification the owners handbook states that an auto must only be towed up to a maximum speed of 10mph for a maximum of 20 miles
