    S60 2002 D5 performance tips?

Hi everyone, I've been away for some years now, but now back with the Volvo family. My past own's have been 1996 850 T5 estate, then 1996 850R saloon. I am now the proud owner of 1 2002 S60 D5 (163bhp) standard vehicle. I have had it now for 3 months or so, and to be honest very impressed with the amount of get up and go it's got. Is there a mod which is worth going for, or leave it as it is??? Lee

D5 engines show good results from remaps. Many options available but you may be better ringing places such as HLM etc to get a correct price for what you want

Powerflex the wishbones and fit bigger brakes would be my first choice.

If you can afford a remap, (circa £300) it'll be a bit more fun but with a P2, if you plan to make it faster, it's best to start tightening it all up first.

    Welcome back btw

Thought I'd stick this on both threads...

What happens when you blank off the egr plate, and how do you do it?

The only issue I can see if you ramp up the power, I bet you go throu the front tyres in no time. Standard lights them up if your over eager with the right foot, even with the crude traction control on!

That's where improving the suspension helps. I've almost eliminated torque steer and wheelspin was a rare thing until I remapped it. Good tyre choice is a must with these things too.

It stops the exhaust gases recirculating back into the intake. I'll post up pics of the plate I used later

here's some info on the egr blanking plate LINK. As said, did notice quite a bit of a difference from the engine & sure it gained a few extra mpg as well

thanks for your help and useful links. The bushes looks like a job for my mechanic, i.e. press needed etc.
The egr blanking plate has mixed reviews , some saying no difference at all. I know my vehicle pulls like a freight train from the word go, and has done 178k miles!
