Plans are manual conversion, prefer it to be an m59 with 850r clutch, may look into lightened flywheel while im at it, if I cant get an m59 ill use m56 with a quaife or gripper then its off to bodyshop to get minted up with its couple of imperfections

I can understand why you want an M59 but I'd be tempted just to get an M56 and fit a Quaife or Gripper then you can fit and forget

In terms of the car itself it looks lovely and appears to have been well cared for previously, do you know what's up with the autobox?
Great to see you sticking with Volvo though

Thanks mate yea the m59 idea was to stick to originality but how many people would check I suppose, as for the auto box feels like the clutches are worn from lack of oil in the past which is a shame, I have an auto box spare in my garage so going to stick that in for now until I have all the genuine r bits for manual conversion and save up some for a quaife diff too

Sounds like a plan, have you tried a gearbox flush and oil change on the existing box to see if it improves at all?
Also when you fit your other autobox make sure you flush all the oil lines and cooler thoroughly to make sure you don't contaminate your replacement box

That's a shame, be easier to just fix it with an oil change, perhaps it's had a hard life or the oil has been contaminated with coolant due to a cooler fault or the wrong oil has been used, the last three letters of the reg look like it could have been an ex Volvo press car/head office car so may have been worked hard early on in its life when ideally it needed an easy life for run in purposes...
