yeah, the cat is part of the downpipe. The one I have has a lambda boss before and after the cat, so I'll have to blank off the post cat boss, and get another one welded in pre cat.

    Hello,

I've been traumatized by an OBX turboback system that droned as Hell, so I resold it after three months of use only. Just enough of headaches, between 2k and 3k revs.
Actually, I have a full 3" stainless downpipe (angled flange on my 16T, OBX downpipe, then 200 cel 3" Magnaflow cat, then 3" SS straight pipe, then SS reducer 3" to 2.5", then Ferrita "ball joint" to link up original silencer). Noise is perfect, as motor can finally be heard, as it must be, family friendly.
But original silencer is too restrictive and I'm searching for a 2.5" straight catback for less restriction only, not specially for noisier sound : it seems difficult to find, as it's inevitable to have less restriction without increasing the noise. So : sporty sound, yes ! But any drone, NO ! So what do you advice, please? BSR/Jetex/Simons or TME ?

Dear jamesy12345, how is this drone, please ? Contained at specific range of revs ? specific speed ? Always present, but not too loud ? I mean, with OBX, the drone was an horrible resonance, as some sounds can make suffering (crackling loudspeaker, squealing truck brakes that can vibrate plate glass windows in a old house... Something that can make you feel your head as a resonance chamber). Even 15 miles on road caused headaches. I'm not joking, it was true !

    Thanking you in anticipation.

It's all down to the size of the boxes and what's used to fill them.

Graeme should be along to explain more...

Mine drones between 2 and 3 k rpm and it's horrible. I have a powerflow catback. It's got a big resonator box which I'll be doing something about very soon.
