anyone had any experience with ebay turbo's?

as above really but dont shoot me just yet, im having trouble finding a 19t for my 940. Someone asked me if i i had considered ebay turbos and i straight away said no not a chance there ££££ etc. but then got to thinking have they improved over the years? and if not any they do fail after a while could i rebuild it with genuine parts? i know i could modify a actuator but thats about all im sure off, i know ebay turbos were a no go at one point but these days on a 940 running 250hp ish?
not saying im thinking of useing a ebay turbo but just looking at all the info first before i even think about it.

    something like this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-850-...item5d4673cfa7

    cheers

Ebay turbo's is a draw of luck. Some are fine and will last a while, others are ££££, blow up and maybe even damage more then that. Also fitment/overall quality can be lacking behind. I would opt Volvo brand parts (or other "big brands"), but that's my opinion

It says it's for a 850, but has an angled exhaust flange, so you'd have to change your downpipe.

you could always buy a genuine 15g/16t and fit a 19t compressor housing and wheel....even with a refurb kit its still cheaper and you know exactly what you've got.

    for example.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Upgrade-Tu...item1c320889df

Should be o.k for the power your looking for.

the centre cartridge of the turbo will need machining to accept the 58mm wheel

this was going to be my next question because you can also do it to the 13g i think? and i do have a spare standard turbo so need to look at the codes.

Go for a 16t and stick a 19t wheels and housing until you get all the supporting work done, then move up to the gt30. I think the young people call it 'hellaboost' nowadays

Yes as long as you use a 4 bar fpr then you could run 18 psi on that turbo .but get the car on the dyno to check afrs before and set the boost till you start to run lean then back it off
