I mean one actually in the boot, usually on the boot lid itself. The yanks are really big on "trunk entrapment" (too many gangster movies lol) so they insist on having a method of escape in case you become trapped in your own boot.... why you'd get trapped in your own boot is beyond me... unless the Americans haven't realised that the the light DOES go out when you close the boot.

I wonder how many yanks get trapped inside their own fridge, trying to solve that exact same conundrum...?

If a tree falls over in the forest and there is no-one there to hear, does it make a noise?

Sound, by definition, is the detection of fluctuations in ambient air pressure caused by a physical event. If there's nothing there to detect the fluctuation, does it still make a sound?

Of course it bloody does. It's like saying a light bulb doesn't work unless there's someone around to see it.

That would depend largely on how hard you've been hitting the box.

Found this on how to remove the rear seat:

Remove the seat base - this just pops up with a bit of lifting force in the front corners.

You can then get to the 2 bolts that hold the backrest in the bottom corners. The seatbelts need to be removed too - Hint, cable tie the seatbelt clips together. This stops them being recoiled into the recess which would be difficult to get them out of again. Once these bolts have been removed the seat will tilt forwards from the bottom.

Here's the tricky bit, you need to reach behind the seat to release the headrest - there's a little clip holding it in at the base of the headrest post. Difficult to explain, but easy to feel for. Once both headrests are out, the seat back will just lift (upwards) and out. Job done!!!

I think this can only be done with the roof down.

Hope the cat in the box is ok

No, no internal handle, I think that's a more recent thing.

I like the colour of that, and it works well with the interior colour too, that said it doesn't sound like it's got a lot going for it if the roof is faulty and the engine is potentially fubbard though... Hope they're all simple fixes...

It's not the roof, it's the boot open warning light, I think a wire may be broken somewhere.

May not be that bad after all then? Perhaps worst case scenario you could break a rear light to gain access into the boot if they are the sort that the bulb holder is removed from inside the car?

Do you know what's wrong with the oil light, I am guessing it's electrical because you'd be foolish to drive it with an oil pressure fault.

I'm thinking it's the sensor, there's no noise from the engine to suggest it's got low oil pressure, even the top end is quiet, and I'd expect it to be quite tappety if there was low oil pressure.

Got a spare couple of hours to work on the car today, first off I took the back seat out (big thanks to Stephen Evans, instructions were spot on mate) and look what I found:

Tempted to nick them for my car, but can't be doing with the hassle of wiring them up. Anyway with the seats out, I could take the ski hatch out, and with a metal bar managed to release the boot. I connected the boot lock back up, shut the boot (first checking the boot release worked) and the light went straight out Why couldn't it have done that last week? So now it has a working roof again.

Next up I started rerouting the boost hoses to bypass the intercooler so I could confirm/rule out if that is where it's leaking boost from. Unfortunately Rachel had to go to work, so it'll have to wait until next week now.

The hardest part was getting the boot open because of the restricted access to the boot.
