Liam - the wipers hold the wash system and you need a different pump if you go for the wiperless jets.

Rob - stop showing us pictures of your ££££!

If a car has wash wipe it must work, not sure if you can remove wipers.....you probably can, didn't affect me, mine work.

How do you get round the self-levelling requirements that are needed for HID's to pass an mot?

If it's fitted it must work, if it's not fitted it doesn't have to be, mine passed just fine.

That's not the law as I have been told. To have hids all car must have either self levelling headlights or suspension and some form of headlight cleaning system.

Does anyone have a source for the law regarding this?

This is taken from VOSA web site "The car will fail if a headlamp levelling or cleaning device is inoperative or otherwise obviously defective."

I looked into it just before I got mine mate and tbh ask 5 different people you'll get 5 different answers, so long as they are obviously not blinding people I think most mot testers give the benefit of the doubt and let them go.

That's right Rob, but only if fitted, it doesn't say you have to retrospectively fit either.

If you have Hid`s you must have headlight cleaning and leveling or it will fail a MOT BUT some mot tester over look this

Nice little meet, is the S80 a T6?

Mine has wipers and leveling just not "self" leveling... lol

That said fitting self leveling is probably not beyond a competent auto electrician, I've started to look into it and I think it would be relatively easy to retro fit the "self" part to the standard leveling system

Oh... I spotted that the V70 was a D5 I just assumed that the S80 was a T6 as it's fitted with Arrakis alloys, it was the only model in the range to be fitted with them when new on that year. That said clearly nothing stops them being fitted to other cars in the range

Jeez Andy, you're knowledge frightens me!

I had thought I'd only seen them on the T6 but thought nothing of it as I haven't seen many S80s.
