    Whats wrong with my stereo?

This is really annoying me now, the stereo on my 54 plate s60 is sh*te. If you want to listen to music at any sort of decent volume level then it distorts?? It just can't seem to handle music where there is more than a few instruments playing at the same time.

To think when I had my 540 I missed the system in the s70r, now I miss the system in the 540! Is it broke, or is this just how the p2 systems sound, i.e crap.

Can't beat the old stereos, I just bought a brand new sony double din, 4x52w and it really sounds cracking on the standard speakers in my v70r

i've always been reading praise for the P2 systems, i'm with you not impressed at all. The quality improved no-end when i fitted an aftermarket headunit

Is it possible that one or more of the speakers is blown? As the system is so good (allegedly!!), then people do have a tendency to blast the music out. Unless they are top end speakers, (they are good, but not that good), they will blow and sound awful and no amount of tinkering with the settings will help.
The front left door speaker on my HU850 has this fault and is really noticeable with speech based radio stations.

Some interesting comments. I'll see if playing with the settings more will help, but I have a feeling that possibly one or more of the front speakers is shot.

Not an issue with mine at all, probably the best sound system in the specific car class when the car was new.

Reset the head unit to factory settings and go from there I suppose.

It must be one or more speakers at the front as the back ones seem to handle things fine and I doubt Volvo would have fitted a worse stereo in a car that's 6years newer than my s70r, which had a brilliant stereo.

Don't want to spend money on the stereo as this supposed to be my cheap car, but maybe by sorting this issue I will enjoy the car a bit more.

    Cheers.

It should be decent stereo, powerful amp with plenty of speakers. Seems as though something is wrong with the system.
