    S60 2005 D5 Front brake discs.

    Hi All,

Recently bought a D5, and the previous own put on new pads, with old warn discs

Anyway, after a couple of weeks there still not bedded in. Once side only biting on about 1cm.

So, I'm going to replace the discs/pads.

Currently I've 286mm discs, and thinking since I'm going to replace them, should I get bigger ones?

If so, what size? , and what do I need.

Will I need new carriers etc If so, which carriers?

What's the best disc/pad combo to get?

    Before I forget, it's on 17" alloys.

    Many thanks
    Edward.

I have a 305 kit sat on a shelf ready to bolt on.

from your description, it sounds like the caliper spring hasn't been fitted correctly. I did it myself and found the brakes only gripping on the inner half inch of the disk.

    Mine's on the outer half

But if I get the 305 kit, and new discs, I'm sorted

if the spring thingy is mounted like this... it's wrong and will be causing your braking problem.

That's exactly what it looks like (on one side), the other side has a mixture.

Should the spring be on the other side of the carrier?

    TIA.

yeah, the ends of the spring should be on the other side of the tab on the carrier.

Took her out for a little drive, checked the discs on return. Much better contact area now.

    Thanks for the spring advice.
