I do think you will be surprised by the D5 engine when I had mine 163 ,I did get 50+ mpg easy on a run.

That's the one I'd go for if I was ever to turn to the dark side. My only concern would be if he towed a caravan, or something similarly weighty what condition the clutch/DMF would be in.

I'm all over the place at the moment, all those extras is more to go wrong and more i will feel i will need to repair if it does go wrong, I'm still hoping the car I buy will be a stand in car for a while. I knew what I was wanting when it came to my R's but this is different, its harder looking at all the ads
    Thanks

Might be a daft question martin but why not get another v40 or s40 the car that kept you all here they are good on mpg cheep road tax and if for between 2-3k you could get a top range one with low miles.

Just because I've had two already. The S60 has better seats. It should be safer as much as the V40 saved us. I dont think either of us would like to sit in another one. It would bring back memorys for her I think.
    Thanks

Its a sad thing to say but the day of the crash I mentiined to her that I would like a new car. But there was no point that thing was so good to me.
    Thanks
