    Performance exhaust benefits

I've been thinking (and yes it hurt) what are the benifits of performance exhaust/dp's ?

Now lets say my car is putting out around 270-280bhp and the list of mods is RICA 310 map, improved intake pipework, cone filter and (if I can get it out of the box) a performance intercooler.

Am I correct in thinking that a cat back would simply 'look good' and 'sound better' ?

I guess a performance downpipe would aid the release of exhaust gasses and maybe spool up the turbo a little quicker, but would it equate to more bhp ?

    Comments, suggestions and slating welcomed.....

your pretty much bang on tbh. downpipe will help resposivness and spool quicker. not so much add hp but as said boost will be there faster.
catback just for the burbly goodness

no slating needed get them fitted you tool

think of it this way. youve got a straw that your sucking your coca cola out of. if its kinked youve got to work harder to get it out of the glass, removing that kink makes it so much easier. its the same for a exhaust. i hope that makes sense. a down pipe and straight through exhaust will get the gases out faster and that means more cold air into the cylinder. without doubt youll gain both torque and bhp from fitting a free flowing system.

I gained a massive 2 bhp with my cat back, you wont notice it on the road but it sounds much better, with my DP and race cat it is now a little to loud (im getting old).
