I've started from the outside and worked my way to the remap..

i.e. sort the suspension (shocks, springs, bushes)
    Brakes (bigger/better, dot 5.1 fluid)
stage zero tune up (all fluids, all filters, clean or replace injectors)
new hoses (upgrade boost hoses, Vac hoses, tcv,)
Then look at exhaust and downpipe
    bigger turbo?

then get a custom map to suit all your mods.

Don't overlook the suspension and brakes, there's no point making it go fast if it can't put it down or get you round the twisties without climbing a tree!
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...

Actually if he can get a custom map done then he can run less boost but still get good power due to the higher compression .

but if that was the case it would be cheaper and easier to buy a t5 in the first place.

But he hasn't got a t5 he wants to mod his lpt so yes you can run a bigger turbo and can still make good power .im not saying it's going to make the same power as a modded t5 but it can be done .i modded an lpt .

As smithy has said, you can run a K24 but you will also need to get green injectors and a custom remap. Alternatively you could run a 16T with white/blue injectors wind the boost up to 9.5psi and run standardish T5 power without a remap. Altho you would be better off getting a remap for the changes and maximum benefit.

I have run mine for over 2 years without a remap with no problems too speak off.
