hi......just wondered what plans people were making for winter, apart from the usual and obvious..... has anyone used tyre socks before ??, and i was considering trying to engineer some quick release type big ass spot lights or something

ive got 4 winter tyres, i ill on high up in durham and we get terrible winters and snow. i also live on a steep incline. never once got stuck. tyres are like tools, you need the rights ones to do a proper job

Mines getting a pair of Goodyear Ultra grip 8 tyres for front wheels as it was shocking on standard tyres in snow last year
Ex Police V70 T5 SE now scrapped.
Daily driver V60 D3 R-design
2004 C70 2.4T GT, modifications front strut brace, 19" Peg reps with white lettered tires.
I don't need to use them but MissB uses Snowsocks on the S60, I used them on my old 850 T5 too.
They are very impressive...got to a point were we were trying to get them stuck...we didn't manage to beat them.
Bear in mind you have to take them off when you get to clear tarmac, so I'd imagine they can be a pain unless you drive on purely untreated roads during the winter.
At the moment....nothing.. But it's a very rare day when the roads are impassable round here.

i'm on the 4wd bandwagon and got the swb pajero ready for winter service, but i have a funny feeling the girlfriend will be using it seeing as my car is 4wd....gonna have to think of reason why her DS3 will be better in the snow than the R
yeah my old a4 quattro was great in the snow even on 8inch wide wheels with summer tyres. i had a 1.25 zetec fiesta with 15inch forrest stage knobblies on it, easily the best snow car ive ever had.
i've always been happy enough driving in the snow, its other people (who cant drive in the snow) crashing into me that gets me worried

This will be the first winter in 6 that i don't have 4 wheel drive as i sold my shogun to get the S60, and will be in Sussex more than London...could be interesting
going to get some winter tyres on my awd
