I like the stitching in blue, looks loads better, one of those small jobs that makes a big difference.

AFAIK Volvo never did an R leather knob with black stitching! They are all blue to match the blue stitching on the dash pod and steering wheel.
if yours is black then it's probably dirt. Try giving it a scrub with a toothbrush and some mild detergent and warm water.

Haha, Lee, I had pool balls for gear knobs in my Pajero offroader!

Had an 8 ball for the gearbox and a 13 ball for the transfer box!

Just ordered them from ebay and drilled and tapped them. Always used to get comments when someone got in!

Just got this from the USA it's a remote for your electric gates, garage door, lights or whatever has a radio remote.

    http://www.homelink.com/home/welcome

it's should be fitted into the sun visor but I am going to see where I can fit it all it needs is a switched supply to work which the sun visor has with the lights that are fitted.

I reckon it will fit nicely in the blank cover in front of the map reading lights in the roof! That's where I'd put it.

Just had a look and there's a sensor in that panel and it's got 3 slots cut into it.

so looks like it will be going in the sun visor.

Well I got round to fitting the homelink remote.

    http://www.homelink.com/home/welcome

I got the remote from the USA for $14 including shipping no tax this time.

The remote is getting fitted in the sun visor.

    The mirror trim just unclipped.

Then I just spent a couple of hours cutting away at the polystyrene to make space for the remote box.

Then wire it into the mirror lights supply. The red wire is the live just in case you want to know.

All fitted and working. Also the remote power is cut when the car is locked & when it goes to sleep approx 2-3 minutes when key is removed.

Well not much time to play with the Volvo the last couple of months as a lot going on at the moment.

But just had this paper weight turn up, It's more a bit of just in case if & when.

It's a higher strength unit than the Volvo one, yes I do know the later cars have a harder one fitted then the early cars have fitted but this is harder again.

Here's the link to the USA firm that makes them, they do run group buy time to time.

Nice clean job with the sun visor mate, well done

I've seen those spline couplers and they do look good, if not a bit pricey. If mine ever fails, I'll just order one.
