Today as the weather was just crap went from these to.

    Winters 17"

    Summers 18"

The summer tires are an awful lot quieter from road noise as well.

Well today rear disks & pads went on with new handbrake shoes, and a spring kit as well also fitted the manual adjusters which makes a big difference to set up very easy,
The car no longer rolls back when they handbrake is pulled on.

Also the little pig tail springs were beyond use trying to get the old discs off they got pulled out of shape.
Old shoes were at the end of there lift as the friction material was coming away.

    The new adjusters spot-on.

The new drilled disks look the part but did have to give the a coat of paint as they were very dark gray almost black.

The next problem is it now needs new handbrake cables as the o/s one is not as smooth as it should be to release, but working fine.
Looks a real pain to change them

I have got a rattly n/s handbrake shoe assembly and it drives me mad. Have just bought some of those pig tail springs to try and tighten everything up.
Looking at the equaliser bar where the handbrake cable divides under the centre console, the left cable looks to have stretched. Oh joy............... You are right, looks like a pig of a job. Will be interested to see how you get on.

Didn't know there was a manual adjuster! Is is a mod or choice for the R models?

Yes it's a mod sort of but it's a Volvo mod here's a Volvo parts drawing.

Removed item no 15 then fitted 17 & 18 now the car doesn't roll back a couple inches before it locks on.

Harvey, you don't happen to have the part numbers for 17 & 18 handy do you?
Rear brakes are going to get done soon and it seems like a good idea to fit these at the time

The TME exhaust is telescopic so it adjusts to both cars the V70 is approx 3" longer than the S60.

I had the ipd gauge they seem pretty accurate.

I'll be looking at my rear brakes, although they look new, I'll check the handbrake shoes just incase, I have seen these things separate and smash up the rear of the car. I think I have 2 spare rear uprights.

I'll follow your adjuster upgrade at same time, nice one.
