are these forge actuators worth it or a waste of money?

Tbh ive got one of them china ones and now ive got things sorted out im more than happy with it and they way it holds boost I think it was the 7psi one I got

my mate with the s70r bought a new one of these and hasnt had any issues, he is runing with the yellow spring i think,
i've got an ebay special 1.2bar actuator but was thinking of swopping if for a Forge, not sure yet
T5frankie (Wednesday 9th October 2013)
i ran a different actuator on the t5r Frankie , cant remember what it was off , sure it was a t28 tho , am waiting me new -31 to come for the cossie the 850r is getting the old -31 chucked on it and am goin to run it with out the bcs
Get a -31 actuator mate you won't go wrong and will hold boost strong and no drop off .i have a -34 garrett actuator on my turbo to make sure I can hold the boost to hit the magic 140
Bhp on the 940.and take it from me that actuator is very strong
nope , had to cut the back off an old td04 actuator and mod it to fit the garrett 1
To be quite straightforward i think they are a waste of money ........just a keep up with the Jones type of thing!......i don`t think they have any advantage over the stock Volvo one, unless it is fubard.
On my `97 V70 T5 with at present the 16T i have 23psi in 5th which i don`t really like but it holds it as long as i want to so no drop off and i have 160,000 on the clock....so how would this Forge one better it?
In the lower gears i can pull 20psi but 5th always goes over the top but holds it. How many psi does one need and to hold safely?
I have the Forge Recirculating valve with a yellow spring fitted but i believe all i get for the £140 is an irritating noise which not enjoyable or hatefull!.....of course it is the whoosh of the valve but in my own case a horrible whoosh!
I can`t believe that Volvo would fit any turbo to one of these older older classic models if the turbo could not hold it`s own to whatever the actuator was set at.
I do really find that our turbos are spot on in everyway and can cope with whatever is thrown at them but those that want chav noises then that is a different matter and i believe that is all that Forge give. Perhaps when the ultimate bhp is needed then they may be an advantage but in my road going version, no.

i think that the forge one is worth it for 2 reasons : if your old one has had it, or if the car is modified.

It will, as i only do 1500mls a year it is my 2nd motor.
I don`t use that psi in 5th perhaps just for 2 seconds as i know it`s toooooo much.
But when i go out for a blast from the past i use the 20psi which i think should be ok as i used 19psi regularly with my T4 for 3yrs with no probs.
Mind you i`m not a screaming engine wrecker!

It's not always about how much boost you want to run .its holding the boost strong from spool up to the redline with no boost drop.
