    powerflexing wishbones

just be sure to remove the hub bolt before you start and make sure the drive shaft doesn't come out of the inner cv.

Unusual for a main dealer to advise replacing just the bushes as the "official" Volvo method is to replace the entire wishbone.
Approx £150 per side when I had mine replaced at an indy, About £350 ish all in if I remember correctly usually more at a main dealer.

Rebushing is definitely the cheapest option if you have the skill and tools, which I don`t!

It would probably be quicker to list the things MRP`s not done

Volvo workshops should have a porta power type tool and dies to change the bush on the car but why would they when the can sell you a new set of arms.

we used to replace only bushes all the time.
the price saving on buying just the bushes instead of a whole arm, is better than the extra .3 labour allowance you get for pressing the bushes after it is removed.
+ on this fitment there is no built in balljoint, so no real reason anything would be wrong with the actual frame.

indy's would prefer a whole arm for convienence, if they did not have the correct press tools which a dealer has no choice in buying as they are a required tool.

There's no real added hardness of the ride. There's a tiny amount of extra road noise but the big advantage is the reduction in steering slack (woolyness) and the extra feel and precision in the steering.

Well worth doing, and I've done a few.

I stand corrected in that case.
I was quoted for the full arm by a main dealer not too far from me as "we can`t just change the bushes, the whole arm is replaced".
Probably just trying it on a bit then, I just got the indy to price me for new arms.
I now realise it`s not an especially hard job to rebush and would have gone down that route if I`d been thinking more about it...

Still wouldn`t try it myself at home though...I stick to the (very) basics but I like learning how to do things where I safely can.

We all have to start somewhere mate. I wouldn't have contemplated dismantling a Volvo 4 years ago but I'll happily rip the old boat apart to fit new mods these days.
There are, of course, some individuals that simply shouldn't be allowed to hold tools (I'm looking at you miss daisy) but it does the mind good to challenge yourself from time to time.

Lol - it's your fault I learned how to remove wishbones in 10 minutes, The front bushes can be done with the wishbone on the car. Although, if I did it again, knowing what I know now, I'd just pull the wishbone off and do both bushes in one hit. (obviously, using bushes that don't fail in 1800 miles )
