Got a TDi V70, what next...

Hi all, got myself a 2.5 TDi V70 today, picked her up from Cannock and so far I love it!
Pulls incredibly compared to the Octavia I had
Insurance is £400 cheaper (am only 21) so that's a bonus.
Must say I cried on the inside putting £75 into it, big tank on this.
Anyway will probably keep it pretty standard but there's some stuff i need to change.
Wheels - stock are ugly, sees to be F-all nice volvo wheels (in my price range anyway!) so been looking at Jag, will depend if i can fit them on the lathe
Lowering - rear is pretty low already! Any better or worse springs to go for? Lesjofors/Apex etc
Radio - Can't see to find a fascia adapter thing for the 850/P1 V70, please tell me such a thing exists? Not keen on putting 12gb of music onto cassette!
Might get the projector lights and mesh grill as these see to suit the dark cars quite well, but I quite like the stock for still
Any ideas why the Volvo strut brace isn't diesel compatible?
Had a breif look and didn't see to be anything that would be in the way?
    Anyway here it is

(Edit in retrospect should probably have been in the intro section, have only been reading in this section so far!)

Nice. I followed one up the M5 last week, and the way it pulled was great, and I could only just keep up with it in my T5. Hope it goes well for you.

Looks nice....btw - there's a set of projectors and indicators going cheap on eBay at the moment - perhaps too good to miss.

aye, been very impressed so far!
Engine's got 156k on it, and a big book full of service history which is very nice to know.
Cheers for that, added to the watch list. was going to get some from germany otherwise, 151euro but don't look as nice
By the way is there any real differences between the 850 and v70?

There's plenty of nice wheels that will fit straight on your car - titans, pegasus, volans, comets, nebulas and probably some more.

If the rear is already low, then either it already has lowering springs on it or, the rear suspension is shagged. Even the "R" isn't low as standard.

I couldn't be bothered to cog down a gear tbh, so nowhere near using the t5's potential.

you don't need a fascia for 850's, just remove the standard radio & the hole is double din. No idea if V70's are the same

    you guys are great
as far as wheels go, nothing inspiring on ebay , but maybe after payday i'll be feeling a bit more spendy!
Seems to have new shocks, but not likely to have lowering springs, i've got national trust membership and owl preservation and stuff window stickers! Old man spec
will probably just put lower springs on te front, and look for some bigger wheels
Any particular nozzle upgrade/company to do it? Darkside see to be pretty decent, and heard good things generally of the H-flox nozzles they sell, assuming they're VW type injectors?
Again anywhere in particular for a reap, and what sort of cost?
Either way for now it's plenty fast enough, probably kill myself otherwise.
Great news RE the stereo and compatibility, doesn't seem to be much aftermarket stuff for the V70 as such

great buy mate, had my diesel for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. They have plenty of power, and im also paying 350 quid less for insurance than on my old 320d. why by the way was a rattly un-refined tractor compared to this.

i put an egg crate grill on form an xc, looks better. Alot of people mention the remap, i would love to know more about these as i'm thinking of it.

i have stuck on a set of s80 5 spoke alloys, look not bad and cost 100 quid for 4... i would much prefer comets etc but they seem to come in at 300 quid ish.

best thing i bought was a load protector for the rear bumper, you see them on ebay for about £40 its a dark grey abs plastic that stick onto the bumper, its sounds daft but most of the rear end of my tdi looked poor because of hundreds of scrapes on the bumper. This is now covered up and it looks much fresher.

Enjoy it, drive it, and laugh in the face of newer cars worth 20 times as much that aren't as good.

You can buy a single din facia mate, I got one in mine. I got it off eBay & it was a doddle to fit.
My main problem was getting the wiring harnesses for my OE Volvo amplified 8speaker system. Nightmare!!
Check what plugs are on the back of your double din before you go pulling it completely out. I had no tunes for weeks. Lol

Got my stereo sorted, managed to blow the fuse putting it in but all good now.
Not entirely sold by the masses of mediocre speakers, need to buy another sub or two.
oh and need a new grill now, it fell of the other day :p
Went and painted it (not very well mind) and didn't put all the clips on

so anyone got a spare stock one kicking around for cheap?

yeah don't know where to get a remap from, not too bothered yet though

Got new wheels off Big G today, will look at a quick powdercoat job perhaps and get them on. dying to get the hideous stock ones off.
The bodywork is generally not great, but it has a bit of a bumper protector there.

Oh and just about everything seems to have kinda matted, worst of which is the windscreen which always looks slightly foggy, and the wipers are ££££ ('aero' type robbed off the old car)
Thinking about treating the bodywork to a polish but not too bothered about that.
    Any ideas??

You mustn't have the premium system in yours then. Mine has an alpine amp & 8 speakers as standard. 8" subs in the doors & it sounds that well I've not rushed to put my sub in. It won't be hard to get it sounding well & drown that diesel out.
I'd invest in a machine polisher if its that dull & take the elbow grease out of it. I like your wheels in an odd way, doubt they would suit my R though.

nah, just 5.25 i think in front and rear doors.
I dunno if it's becuase i've only owned 1 petrol car out of 6, but this is actually a pretty quiet engine for the age. that said it'll probably get soe better flowing exhaust on there at some point, couldn't believe how huge the silencer is. plus with 5 wheels in the boot and shot rear springs the exhaust sits against the curb when i park at work!
Yeah thought as much, any recommendations?
You're welcome to them in a few weeks, 2 good tyres, 2 not, yours for £50 or they're going on ebay or to the scrappy's

    so today this happened

    gone from this

    to

Okay it's a pretty crap picture, but it's much ore level. still on stock springs at the back!

The Titans I got off Big G, tyres were pretty much shot, and going to get them stripped and powdercoated soon.

Like this, in darkish gray, or something a bit more interesting?
As above i've had a thing for black and gold, so perhaps a very pale gold?
