Thanks that's very useful, at least I now know where current/previous issues are. ECM bothers me the most because that's the ECU!

This is where that Volvo software would come in handy.

It is a cracking bit of kit.
If you was closer you could happily come and plug it into mine and see what they all say

Some of the codes could be from ages ago, just stored to help diagnose any faults.

£100 well spent but I think you need Windows XP to run it, it doesn't like Windows 7 from what I've heard.

    That's why I didn't link nuffink

There's supposed to be a software patch to get it running on vista and win7 but cheap XP lappys aren't hard to find, I've been using one as a footrest under my desk for 18 months lol.

Reminded me of an half decent idea......what about a sticky thread with a map of VPC users with VIDA/DICE software who are willing to help others. Sure I've seen this done before ??

I don't trust these cheap knock-off version on fleabay, there's every chance it's fake. The best option is to get the genuine article from a closed down dealers or indy specialist - I have seen them going on ebay before!

When was the last time you saw a thread get stickied?

I think they've lost the button.

Doesn't seem to end to countless 'copys' being sold on the internet....can't imagine Copyright Tactical Team kicking my door in at 04.30.

Perhaps it was a bad idea....how many folk on here have the Genuine Software I wonder?

Why not? It is just a bit of computer software and a box of tricks to read the codes. And, were you not tempted to get a 'cheap knock off' MAF a while back!!! I bet everyone on here has some sort of dodgy software on their computer or a knock off product in their house................

Not true. I have Win 7 and patched free off the net. No probs. (VIDA 2012A anyway)

What make me think is why all the sellers of the software are in the far east, why isn't there stacks of UK based suppliers selling this. There is a seller offering a laptop and 'dealership level' Vida for £699......

You don't need Dealer Level VIDA. It is no different to what I and others have got. The only difference between us and a dealer is the annual subscription. That enables you to download software. THAT is what costs an awful lot of money!!

Cardiag do one for £85. I've had one from there and another from a fellow forum member. Both were copies and both worked perfectly well. I currently have Vida 2012d. I wouldn't be without one - it costs less than a couple of trips to a dealer for codes. It's a no-brainer.
