    Question Does the AC weep???

    Hello all!

Came back to the car the other day and noticed a small amount of liquid under my car. Not power steering fluid, not coolant and deffo not oil.

A mechanic mate suggested it could be the ac weeping excess water???

    is this true???

The ac will have a drain from the evaporator located behind the dash, on a hot day you will often see a puddle of water under the front of the car - perfectly normal.

if you'd only left the car for a short time could be just condensate, if you used the AC just before parking up I wouldn't worry about it

As said it will be condensation, its not a leak coming from the inside.
    Thanks

When it's working the a/c removes moisture from the air which is why it clears the screen quicker , so when it's working the water that collects in the heater box empties out a drain tube normally on the drivers side just behind the engine bay perfectly normal

if you dont get any water under your car, its more a problem because those drain pipes get blocked or become detatched and then fill up the footwells. it can be some time before you see it because the carpet is soo thick , so anybody who doesnt have water ......... check yours!!

we used to get a few of those at one time in the p2's ............
