Question 00' P1 T4 PCV system canceling, catch can instead?

Hey guys i have a friend with a 135i and today he built his first DIY oil catch can. Now, i figured i should do the same, because my PCV is failing, spewing oil through the dipstick and oil filler cap. If i dare to open it, it'll cover me in oil in a matter of seconds.
Anyway, after watching some videos on youtube on how to replace the PCV box on T5 engines, I know our engines are basically the same with 1 cylinder less.
I decided to go with a catch can and not bother replacing the PCV, just completely cancel it out and throw it away.

This is the video i watched:

    Now my questions are:
    1. is our system built and connected the same way as here?
The box has 2 ports going into the engine near it (1 to the block and 1 to the oil pan), another one on top of the crankcase and another hose that runs back to the turbo.

    2. Do you think it'll be better? more reliable maybe?
Definitely cheaper, as the catch can will be made from an aluminum bottle, with stainless steel wool and brass fittings with a clear hose on the side to see the level of oil.

    3. So if i understand it correctly, i need to block the bottom flange that goes into the oil pan. Run a hose from the other port on the PCV box to the catch can and a hose from the top of the crankcase to the catch can.
Then the catch can outlet will go to the PTC or where it connects to the turbo, or intake.
    Is that correct?

    Thanks!

I can't see why ours (T4) would be hugely different, but I've never done mine to know.
As for a modified catch tank I have never looked into the details. If you do go down this route can you post up your project, any thing you found and the final solution??
