    Rims & rubber.....

I've been offered some tasty 18's for the bullion, they need a refurb but they're straight & cheap but have no tyres.
The wheels are 5x108 et 40 & are 7.5j wide.
Firstly, will they fit in with my plans to lower it 30mm at the front & 50mm at the rear? I don't really want to go hacking the straight rust free arches about & I know they could be tight.
Secondly, what size tyre would people recomend? I wouldn't want rubber bands as they would be bent in minutes on our local twistys (my main route home from work) yet I wouldn't want them catching. Ive heard 225's are too wide for her but I wouldn't want the rim poking out with my mrs's driving. Lol
I know I said I'd keep it oe but these wheels are cheap & would look really well I think.
Any help or suggestions excepted. Lol

Jim I'm just waiting on my mates address of his body shop, I'll get them sent there as that's where they'll be fitted. Can't wait!

    That's because you're getting old.

On a V70, 225/40/18's are the best size Biff. You won't get any rubbing on the arches, though the fronts may rub on the inside a tad, depends how good your lock stops are.

I see.... I think 225/40's would be nice if they don't catch...
Seeing as I will need 2 new tyres soon I may get some prices. I know stribo runs 225 17's on his slammed c70, mine won't be as low but an extra inch of girth makes all the difference. I really don't want to fork out a load & ruin my car.

Not necessarily if they've worn evenly, but if they do rub it'll only be slight. I raised mine 20mm for the MOT and it was fine.
When I get my Pegs sorted they're going to be running 235/35/18s, but I'll probably use some 10mm spacers.

I'm guessing they rub the arch rather than the wheel arch liner though. I've got loads of clearance on the arch, just rubs on the liner at full lock, and lowest setting.

I trained as a sheet metal worker as my apprenticeship. Many of my cars have been silly low. I've rubbed arches back when big body kits were all the rage. I didn't want to break the hammers out but I guess you've got to do what you've got to do for the right look.
These wheels are off a transit connect believe it or not. I know they're the same Center bore as the late v70's etc but any idea what my bore & the late Volvo ford fitment. It's been years since I've thought about buying wheels. It will look alright but not what the usual cars have.
Cheers boys. I reckon 4x 225 tyres with my awd sorted will make all the difference.

From watching on You Tube (though not from personal experience) rolling the arches doesn't look that hard, just need the right tool.
