    my 740 turbo.

hi guys. thought I`d put up some pics of my 740 turbo and the slight intro to how I came to be a Volvo owner.
    here starts the sermon.
car mad for ever. got into jap stuff many years ago and never looked back. have had 4 skyline r32`s, pulsar gtir and finally wanted a big jap saloon. so I bought my Nissan laurel as a standard car and ended up with this.....

lot of work put into this. but it did confirm that I frickin love big rear drive cars.
    then a tractor did this........

    chuffing gutted.
meanwhile I had bought a 940 hpt for the engine to go into the laurel, but as this never came about I had to use the 940 as an everyday hack for a while until the organised crime syndicate called "insurance" tried to stiff me on pay out.

now the 940 was fine but had done galactic miles and was still a bit to modern for me.
so once the pay out was in my bank I set out to find a big turbo rear drive piece of Sweden`s finest.
940`s were out due to the age. so I came across this 740 on autotrader.
    pics.........

plenty of room for little monster,

the all important FT engine code.

    love this interior.

and yes that milage is original

am very pleased with it. have had it for a while now(six months) and its excellent.
I`ve recently lowered it by taking two coils out of the springs.
then got an MBC and gauge and its currently running 10psi. has trouble getting traction now.
plans are further engine mods when I find out what rods I`ve got. also decent wheels as the ones on there nowi really dislike.
    thanks for looking.
    opinions please

Love it! remember seeing this for sale, looks to be in great condition. I'd be tempted to leave the exterior entirely as is in favor of originality.

im a big fan of clean and simple so nothing external will be changed apart from poss debadge, and wheels. also might make up my own rear spoiler. but nothing that cant be put back to original.
interior is just the nicest place to be so that's all staying as is. its also my family car so its still got to be useable,
engine mods are where its at. if it turns out ive got the thinner rods then I`ll get a late model engine and rebuild it for power.

Nice motor mate and your engine is an ft so you have the 13mm rods .the 9mm rods came in the later et engines .

Sounds like the car has found itself a good owner in my books in that case

so... done some work to the old battleship.
    cambelt and tensioner, laughably easy.
heres a pic after the coils mysteriously disappeared from the springs. much stiffer and really handles better now.

then out came the clocks and said goodbye to the factory boost gauge.
fitted a more accurate gauge in place of the original. I know it doesn't match but it was in the shed hence free.

had this K&N filter for ages, bought at car boot for a couple of quid. ebay piece of hose for a tenner and hey presto.. induction kit.
lots of spool up and wooshie noises.

removing the air box gave me a nice little place to put this little "grin maker"

its gotta be over 200bhp now. can seriousely worry type r`s.
im happy at the moment. next step is fit the parrot hands free I saved from one of our works vans that was being scrapped. just need to find a small yet decent extension speaker.
    hope you like.

have been after some "alternative" wheels for my bus since I got it. but due to the crap pcd the choice isn't great.
bar a couple of exceptions im not a fan of any factory wheel. and im afraid I might be on my own in saying that galaxies don't do it for me.
started to get the right hump with what was available so started looking at what was possible with adapters.
being an ex jdm fanatic I knew the wheel that I always wanted on my skylines but just couldn't get at the time.
so after seeing these on ebay and them being very local. they didn't sell so I got hold of the seller and arranged to see them, bid low and got them for an absolute steal.

I have literally just offered them up in these pics, have adapters on the way from the states, and I will have to jiggle tyres abit but I think they are ding dong.
"super advans tri spoke splits" 9 1/2 rears and 8 1/2 fronts.

I will take them apart and mirror polish the lips and get the centres painted. just don't know what colour to go for yet. poss body colour, poss nice bronze.
go on give me your worst.
