    It was a surprise to me how this thing worked - I got a shock when the pedal started moving on its own, having been used to either no cruise control or electronic stuff previously...

    That all makes sense and as you say it's the blue item in the drawing, so I'd better leave it there as I use cruise in speed limits to save on getting points...lol

    Time for a small update on the T-5R and whats happened in the last few months


    The engine was dropped out on its subframe for a transmission swap and new up-rated clutch to be fitted, a fairly painless job, of which I'm getting well practiced at, for reasons most of you know.

    Flywheel looks to be in good condition for 270,000 miles and is now fitted with an R clutch plate and up-rated Sach's cover which certainly is up to the job, as for pedal pressure, I'm going to have one leg bigger than the other, its heavy but tolerable

    The standard clutch on the left and the new one on the right

    Clutch fitted

    Timing belt and new shorter auxiliary belts fitted and aircon pump removed (space for a supercharger someone might say)


    Amazed by how clean the 3" throttle body was after 9-10 months of daily use and the Jap manifold is still looking crack free



    The same couldn't be said for the turbo, which had a nasty looking crack in the exhaust housing, across the waste gate area, so it was changed for another 15g, which was most kindly donated by Colin from his T-10K's donor car (Thanks again mate)


    subframe swap and installation of some "Sponge" inserts to stiffen things up, polybushes to be added at a later date to the lower arms and arb bushes will be up-rated at the same time

    and the cheapo flea bay disc's are still in good condition after 18 months or more

    Yesterdays tidy up session pinched one of WD's ideas and hid the H.I.D. ballast's in the ecu box and the passenger ones behind the battery





    also went about sorting out the loose bracket in front of the power steering pump, searched high and low in the garage for the long bolt and sleeve, only to come to the conclusion that when the previous owner had the engine changed, some 170,000 miles ago, that the garage never re-fitted the part, as it's not in the pic of when the engine came out

    New mod just finished a couple of minutes ago, to compliment Pete's old grill is it's new v70 bonnet catch, no longer any need for the little rod poking through the mesh..




    think a wash and a good polish should be next if the weather picks up a bit

    Nice work, love the 70 series bonnet release, was it tricky to fit? How did you fit it and was there much to modify to get it to fit?

    Yes mate, the V70 bonnet pull is much nicer than the 850 one, but on the v70, the slam panel has a scoop, low down to accommodate your fingers when you pull it, so things are a little tighter on the 850, but it seems to fit ok and I can get my fingers around it ok to release it. All that was required was a suitable bit of rod to be bent to shape as the 850 rod length needs to be longer than the v70's. The catch just clip's in on the V70, so a couple of slots need the be cut for the bottom of the catch to pivot in to, the top just then clip over, the position on mine wasn't perfect so I added a clip to the bonnet internal edge for the clip to catch on, but other than that it is pretty much straight forward, I'll try and get some pic's of the slots it clips into in the next few day when I'm off work

    Will I think it's time to open up the 10v gearbox and see what the damage is...... and whilst I'm in there thought I'd improve the traction a tad...

    A bit to do yet, I think the box is going to be full of filings,just going buy what I saw on the reversing switch selector, will be in need of a thorough clean out and pressure wash to start and see where we go from there, got to get it all done and fitted for the next Avon meet.......hopefully

    I'm hoping that the combination of the drop in gearing and the extra traction should help my times improve, without having to find more power yet.....next year may see engine mods but we'll have to wait and see what money is about for those, I'll try to quietly tuck a bit away regularly and build the funds up hopefully.

    Nice lookingf bit of kit mate, hopefully one of those will adorn my gearbox one day. Don't listen to Frankie, stick with the 15g, it's the only way I'll beat you once my 18t is fitted.
