    Thumbs up Moles T-5R (Project Olive)

    As all the usual suspects know, I've had the 855 T-5R a few years now and given it some welly down the 1/4mile, I still think I can squeeze a tad more out of the lowly 15g, 14.52 is brilliant but now the challenge is what can I get it to do? So some careful, but quite common mods ( and some not !!! ) are now required to push the boundary a tad as we can't let Frankie's 19t hybrid have all the fun !!

    I have already popped in a Pipercross panel filter and a HLM304 ecu ( courtesy for Jamest5r ), the car is decat, due to it collapsing and just knocking it out with the easiest cure to the problem and that, is then connected to a Jetex/BSR rear system and thats about it, the car runs on normal unleaded ( except race weekends ) as it is a daily drive, but I am just starting to experiment to whether the more expensive fuel gives me extra (more on that later if it works!!) and this is where we are at on a 14.52 second car with next to no mods (except slicks, to keep Frankie boy happy, but then he says they don't make a difference anyway...maybe he's right again folks...lol)

    So with Retro Rides Gathering, Trax 2013 and Shakey on 28-29 september it's time to get the 855 in the garage and fit some of the parts that have been gathering in the previous six months and giving it a check over before next months Mot

    As External Error and Claymore already know ( as they had been thinking on similar lines ) I have made my own R.I.P pipe ( just got one off a S60 and cut out the 90deg bend and jointed the pipe back together) was then fitted using a selection of orginal pipes to make it work ( as this will be altered shortly with the addition of one of Blackbeast's R.I.P hard pipes, photos to follow when the hoses arrive )

    First thing to do was get rid of the old exhaust manifold, that was cracked by the sound of it, oh and was it.......?????

    so I popped in a Japanifold that I had off another forum member that had been lightly ported!!!! ( I had taken a bit of a punt here and found to my relief that the porting he had advertised was actually just a bit of a light heart'd attempt at knife edging, which I then exaggerated as far as I dared !!!

    Turbo recirc looked a little knackered so time for the blanking plate I had off graemewelch when he'd just made a batch ( thanks mate took a while but its in now )




    and finally a big thank you to Ian for passing on some unused air filters and thought James spotting that I don't have one on my car, bought it down to Retro Rides so the car would sound even better going up the hill ( if you could here it over the tyre squeal..lol)

    If I can shave .5 of a second off the 1/4, I'll treat myself to a new turbo.... actually I'll probably need a new set of rods..lol

    Quick update... new manifold in and turbo on, some pipework in, plugs and leads changed, various bits fitted back properly or replaced if broken ( GARAGES is all I have to say and why do owners let them get away with it ????), all bits that have niggled me for the six years I've owned the car and then a bit of cleaning around the engine bay. Hopefully some blingy bits going in tomorrow folks and a few pic's of whats been done

    Yes, in 2011 I learnt about detailer, just thought you were being lazy...lol To be fair the day a Meg's that Shepbomb organised last year was an eye opener in easy car care, hence the results and I ain't no WD

    Car is looking very well indeed, I remember seeing it a couple of years back at Avon and it looks like an entirely different car now!     Thanks Andy, it will be interesting to see just what we can get out of her, when we return to Avon in September, the car seem to be perform real nice at Prescott with the new manifold and mods. The latest pic's at the hill climb just strenghten me,in my love for my high miler, yet she still has more in her to be unleashed.

    the front spoiler/bumper and grill all come off in on piece and then they just hung it over the car to drive it across the field

    I alway try to make sure I get the best I can out of something before binning it, don't thing it was quite that bad when she pulled of a 14.52 at avon, will be interesting to see what I can get next time

    As promised it's picy time, have had an evening of massive highs and sinking lows.......yes we got the car fired up on the button, running sweet and quiet, just going out of the garage when, Alex thankfully in the dark, spotted a nasty oil leak, it was coming from the turbo oil feed banjo, so I tried to tighten it,when I should have undone it and checked both washers were there, this was the result

    What a muppet, thankfully I got the thread out. Just got to sort it quick as were off to Retro Rides on Friday

    On the good side..... been fitting some nice new bits, Sir Blackbeast kind supplied me with the last of his lower hard pipes with dump and idle valve ports and a quality bit of piping it is, added some nice red silicone hoses and a bailey dump valve






    And the home made RIP pipe crafted (lol) from a S60 turbo to intercooler pipe, some tidying to be done, but a go stop gap till I make an alloy one

    Well oil leak fixed, pinched the banjo off the v70 r's turbo, but as for the washers, what a game, couldn't get anything the right size, so used some smaller ones and filed them out to fit. Been out for a run all seems well.
    Big day for T-5R tomorrow, the run down for retro rides with claymore so lots of pics no doubt.
