Quick update, gearbox is all back together and selecting all gears correctly and awaiting fitting to the Olive T-5R, Alex has taken it upon himself to put a large cardboard sign on it telling to fill in with oil.......cheeky.....as if I am going to forget

Well she's though, with just a couple of niggles ( how on earth the dipped beam on the drivers side stopped working after only travelling 4 miles I don't know as it was checked ok before I left) small blow on the exhaust and were the bumper joins the drivers front they weren't to keen on but no surprise, any how all good now and just an advisory on the front pad levels ( 3-6 month left in them even with my driving.... ) So she's ready to be pressed back into daily service, even though she has got to be back in the workshop soon for a gearbox transplant, new intercooler and many other nice bits before the avon meet at the end of the month

Just dropped an 850r remap that I had of the bay cheap recently into the green bitch for the return home from the test station and wow it feels even more aggressive than the hlm, but that could just be me as I not driven it since the end of August, nice to be back in her again

As long as nothing gets broken in the drag meet or 2 before it should be there, as I was thinking of bringing both T-5R's next time, but we'll have to see how things pan out...

Well that was fun, As the Gul is currently running on my hlm304 I normally run in the Olive T-5R, I took a punt on a 850r re-map on the bay recently and yes I did read that it will only work in the 850r, but me being me and the fact that when I tried Frankies 850r re-map he'd said there no way it would start a T-5R, but it did and did a good 1/4 run on it, so I took the gamble and when it arrived a few weeks back I tried a start both cars which they did, I wasn't surprised that Olive started, but I was when the Gul (obd1) started and ran, so as the Olive was still off road at the time I tried the map in Gully for my usual run to work and she wasn't totally happy with this map, more so at more than half throttle, so back in with the hlm. So I dropped it into Olive after her recent mot test and she was running nice as I had hoped she would when I took the gamble and purchased the ecu, now she's taxed I used her for my usual work run and my god this thing goes like a rocket ship with this new map in and I don't have a clue what it is, but it certainly is fun (traction is a major issue in damp conditions though) so I now need to try and find out what it is I've messaged the seller and hope to find out more but is there any other way to find out what this map is ???

Not sure (it would be a bonus if it was as it was a right bargain imho) might try and see if the laptop will connect to it, as I could do with doing some logging to try and iron out an underlying issue on this car from york last year

Thankyou I love this car too, don't know how I managed to just leave it sat on the drive from last september, but it does feel so good to be back in her again, although I will admit the suspension has seen better days compared to the Gul and the gearbox has a bit of a whine to it (going to be changed shortly) but she is running well apart from an on going 3/4-full throttle issue that developed at York last year and I still have not got to the bottom of.

This 3/4 throttle issue how do you mean?
I know mine has a strange issue with throttling, it does accelerate when progressively pressing the pedal swiftly but it doesnt give me anywhere near full power unless i kickdown (even then it sometimes doesnt do anything :s), very odd issue but I've read it could be a PTC (?) valve.
Or terrible autobox.. I dont know..

mines manual so no need to kick-down, but the issue is like a rapid mis-fire of fluffing I call it at 3/4 to full throttle and I think at least one of a few things is happening :-

    1. boost leak big enough to fool the maf and ecu, I have checked the system and pressure tested and there is a small leak on the intercooler even with the drain hole bunged

    2. spark blow out, I have previously closed up the plugs a bit, but may be they need to go further or plugs need to change to a cooler plug

    3. fueling going out and causing knock so retardation occurs, got to get some logging sorted on this bit and an afr gauge fitted

    4. boost cut, unlikely as it's not like boost cut when experienced on a standard ecu

    5. Iat's, just started thinking about detonation from a temperature point of view after reading a post by Dream3r re post ic temps in std and aftermarket ic's, so getting mine fitted and some form of monitoring of iat's is becoming top priority

I have no fault codes and it doesn't matter what ecu I run (sure it happens on the std ecu too)this problem persists and doesn't seem to be affected by how high or low the boost is set at, will experiment tonight if it is rpm related, but I swapped out everything sensor, plug, lead, coil...etc that I can think of and no improvement, I may try to get a video so peeps here can hear and see for themselves as I'm sure I'm not the only one to experience this and when sorted she I'll go like stink....

you will always have kick-down when you press for full throttle (to the floor), unless your going really fast before you floor it, as when you open the throttle fully it in turn pulls the kick-down cable and it's then speed dependant on what happens next, you should be able to press the pedal down and feel when the kick-down is about to be operated as the pedal resistance increases at a certain point, I think your throttle cable is fitted to the smaller diameter part of the wheel that operates the throttle thus opening the throttle faster than in a manual car to compensate for this, so in theroy you should achieve full or almost full throttle before kick-down engages, but I have not had one to study so I could be talking total tosh, but I was lead to believe autos had a different throttle cable.....is this true anyone, just for my peace of mind
