Yep they can, not long replaced the one-way valve in the line whilst chasing a boost issue that I never really got to pin point the cause of, but it went so happy days....

Right then.....All back to normal, suspected boost leak found on one of the only 2 joints that don't where mikalor pipe clamps, which was missed as when my home made custom rip pipes were fitted at york raceway a couple of years back, I didn't have anything to trim the fan/radiator cowl back, so used the original clip. Well the cowl is now modified to allow the last remaining mikalor clip to be fitted and thing are running fine again.......A word to the wise for people with similar issues, I ran around in the car for about 3 days, limping here and there, so when then pipework was refitted and the engine run, It does take a fair while for the ecu to get itself back to normal (no mil lamp on last run and only 4-1-4 and 2-2-1 stored and not relevant) but slowly and surely she returned to normal idle and is as responsive as before, just needs a full shakedown run in the next day or 2, to fully confirm were are totally back to normal, not that I have any doubts on that now.

Whilst the pipes where been played with, I thought it was a good time to fit the intake temperature sensors in to the intake pipe (blue) and just in front for the throttle body (red), wiring and internal installation to be completed in the next couple of days when it's warmer..?

Arduino is getting there, at the moment going through the code to see if I can make it faster and add some menu functions to control the exhaust flap automatically.

I got the propshaft back on the green one before the snow hit, good job I did as there was no way it would have made it off the driveway in 2WD mode

Got to love the early AWD's and there permanent 4WD, I think they are way more fun to drive than the later Haldex equipped stuff, don't get me wrong they are still fun in the slippery stuff, but just a little harder work imho.

They are fun, though the clutch on the green one was rather smelly after a little play the other day (oh dear). I did manage to capture <ahem> someone playing on the works car park back in December...

    Update time...

Olive is still soldiering on even with the knocking, but unfortunately managed to break the O/S rear disc from the drum, which was a bit of a drama, as the caliper retaining bolts had rounded over and required a bit of work to remove. Solution was to turn out the insides of some larger nuts and slip them over the rounded bolt heads, then weld them on, which has the added benefit of adding plenty of heat and larger surface area for a bigger spanner, thus the bolts where removed and the disc replaced. Then the N/S front caliper decided to seize on just before the VT rolling for Day at Sharks Dyno, this was not good and which took some work to get moving nicely again, as time was short and a full strip down impossible. Early start on Sunday for the trip up to Mansfield from Mid-Wales, a quick 5th gear full power run on a very quiet stubble field, gave me the confidence that the rollers weren't going to kill her. Well she did me proud and returned an awesome 301.8bhp and a mighty 521nm of torque, not bad for a 15g powered car, with the impending installation of the 4.4 ecu and some datalogging in the near future, we may be able to extract a bit more from her before the york meet hopefully. My installation of my intake temperature gauges did fair as well unfortunately but more on that later as a vid is uploading a present. All in all things are progress still and it was lovely to get olive out for a long run, she drank a fair amount of fuel to make the trip, but it is hard to resist squeezing the loud pedal with all that torque to play with.

A year end summary ..... not much of any significance has really happened this year and there's not much to encourage me at present, since the drag racing stopped. At present I'm sitting back and trying to decide in which direction to focus my motorsport efforts, I have many options here to build, but it is difficult to build something to be an all round car, rather than a dedicated single discipline car. I'd like to do some hillclimbs and sprints, possibly some track days too, I don't think ( I know ) I couldn't afford to circuit race, my as I like to have a go, as funds won't allow that to happen at present. Also Olive needs to stay as a road car, as T-5R prices are creeping upwards, so it would be a crime to strip her out to cage her etc, so I will carry on with modifying her for the road and keeping her looking standardish.

Olive to be honest has performed well this year with no real issues, apart from some body rot near the front subframe mounting points, thus her mot appointment was rapidly cancelled as this would without doubt be an mot failure, so no point in sending her until I have been underneath with the welder and plated the areas concerned. So now side lined till the new year, when hopefully I will find some time to so sort her ready for spring/summer. She will be attending VT600 whatever, as she will be travelling there on a trailer, as I'm aiming to take 4 Volvo's for the event, all being well.
