Been a while since the last update, so time to put that right and share a few pic's etc with you all.

Starting with a motoring disaster when I pulled over to make room for an inconsiderate road user that just had to force his way through and caught a wheel on a nasty bit of road edge break up, that I had never noticed before in my daily runs down that country lane, looked like I got away with just a damaged tyre.....WRONG!!!

and had a little time to play with the exhaust system, the 15g now is fitted with an ported and polished angled flange exhaust housing and mounted on a S60R manifold, which has had the collector end opened up and ported to match the angled flange. The turbo has also had an adjustable actuator fitted (thanks to P.Fandango)

obviously the exhaust system would need changing to fit the angled flange setup, so I made a flange to mate to the turbo and got a couple of stainless bends so I could modify the 3" downpipe I bought off Volvostorm a while back along with the rest of his 3" system, a bit of cutting and tacking till I got the fit nice (not a lot of the original dp left), then tig'd up the joints and on she went along with all the other intake bits that had been removed

    Looking good, Ade.

Is it all reinforced with tile adhesive?

    Shame about the wheel though

Meth kit installed and ready for setting up. Unfortunately after the car was re-assembled and taken out for a shakedown run I got a bit carried away and bent a rod accelerating away from a junction, probably over did it on the spring choice in the actuator, even though the mbc was wound right off. New exhaust sounds lovely and did draw a bit of attention from the locals when going out on the test run. I'm looking at making up a level sensor unit for the tank and getting a boss welded to the tank to take it, but plenty of time for that after the engine rebuild or swap, as I'm not sure on which route I'm taking yet, but it has to be done for March and the new drag racing season.

Sorry about the rod. With the tank if it's an Ally Fab one then take care with the breather as they tend to go very deep in to the tank so can syphen. Also the tanks can corrode very badly with methanol due to the grade of metal.

Thanks for the info Tim, I will check the breather depth before filling. May explain how come the kit came up for sale, someone having second thoughts possibly, although the tank does look in good condition as far as I can see. As for the rod I was my own stupid fault, but considering I've been booting that engine for the last 9 years and a 100,000+ maxium attack miles it's a wonder I'd not done it sooner...ooops

Well reflection has been done over a few pints etc and a way forward decided, I wish to stick with a standard 2.3 for this season to make the 13's. ...so does anyone know for a cheap but good 2.3 t5 miles not really an issue, been trashed a bit wouldn't matter it's for the strip so a destressed engine will be fine...lol

Well doesn't time fly I can't believe the last update was January.....Well it's mot time so I can get her onto the road and get some setup and data logging done, further update shortly when the pictures have up loaded, time for a quick check over and full set of tyres, tidy up some loose bits and hopefully she'll fly though.....fingers crossed

Well time flies and I've not done the update I promised so here we go, The new gauging equipment was installed ready for when she returned to the road and spring rate in the actuator taken back 2 springs and then the mbc was slowly worked back up. I am also now able to effectively monitor my exhaust gas temperatures and afr's in car now, with added benefit of the aem afr gauge data logging the afr,rpm and boost pressures for me to review on the laptop at my leisure. This has revealed that the car was over fueling on it's blues with the 3.8 bar fuel pressure regulator, which was then promptly swapped back to a standard 3.0 bar item improving the fueling greatly and making the car feel even more responsive. With this all looking much better I moved on and switched on the Water/Meth kit which, even on a basic setup, seems to having made the car a lot smoother in mid to high rev/boost conditions (as it should do).

Aem Failsafe afr Gauge was installed into the pillar pod of the old boost gauge (which is much nicer than the old cheapo one),It is currently configured with the boost reading on the central digits and afr on the led bar around the outside of the gauge, but I'm considering swapping that about to make the afr easier to read, now that I know that the boost pressure is holding nicely throughout the rev range. The red led is the remote error warning lamp for the Water/Meth kit and flashes a number of times dependent on the fault encountered.
    IMG-20170809-WA0010 by moleadrian, on Flickr

The exhaust gas temperature gauge has been installed in a din radio blank and allows room for expansion for other gauges etc, a nice bit of kit and I've stayed with Aem for this, it can be set with high and low warnings and will store peak temperature, which is quite high on a car with a small turbo, but the Meth kit does reduce those high peak temps by a noticeable amount. The addition shortly of some intake temp gauges will also be of a benefit to trying to reduce these a bit more.
    IMG-20170809-WA0013 by moleadrian, on Flickr

The 3" downpipe has needed a small amount of modification to take the new sensors for egt's and wideband afr's ( I must add that the shiny bits on either end are my handwork and the dull bit in the middle is all that remains of Volvostorm's old 3" downpipe, which I'm looking at chopping out and replacing with a straight section when it's next off for any length of time)
    20170812_100910 by moleadrian, on Flickr

I was getting a little mess from the filter on my crank breather, so I popped a catch can in to take care of that and provide a nice mounting point for the mbc on the custom bracket I made for it. The plumbing to both catch can and mbc are temporary and will be replaced with some colour co-ordinated braided hose at some point, as will the green wire that acts as the rpm trigger for the Aem arf gauge, which needs tidying up and a bit better protection.
    IMG-20170829-WA0030 by moleadrian, on Flickr
    IMG-20170829-WA0028 by moleadrian, on Flickr

Well road testing to setup target boost pressure has seen the old bailey DV get the boot and JamesT5R's Forge Motorsport item installed with a reduced spring rate to what he was running, whilst upping the mbc to achieve target boost it was apparent the actuator spring rate needed to be changed to a green spring and then worked up to achieve my target 18-20 psi.

Next was to run at Shakey for the end of September meet and we planned to run both days and be there from Friday night, Saturday although slow to start and had loads of incident downtime. Finally we got in 4 decent runs in, all being 14.1's and the best being 104.28 mph over the line. That was a great start to the weekend as this was a new PB over the 14.3 which we got last time out at york 2015 ?? I think. Some more was going to be needed, so in true Judgeninja style the boot floor and back seats came out...!!! The tired old rear nivomats were replaced with some FK shocks I had off of claymore 5 years ago, But never got around to fitting.

Well Sunday was to prove even better and after a wet start we finally got running just after 1 o'clock with a 14.0 @ 107.83mph, banging on the 13's door, more had to be available if only the drive could get it all to hook up right and it did one the very next run, with a 13.4 @104.3 and then 6 further 13 second runs in the afternoon to back it up out of the 10 runs in total on Sunday can't be bad.

So where next then, Shakey for the last rwyb this year and to set a 13 second time with the seats in this time and then to try and beat my PB (oh and beating Woody....now that would be a laugh, wouldn't it). I have got a new rear suspension setup that hopefully should be finished in time for the racing and an update to follow on that after we've tested it out.

Well wish me luck Guys I'm still trying the impossible with a 15g..........

Well in the post on the same day as the last update were the new temperature gauges, 1 in blue for the intake and 1 in red for the throttle body, I also picked up a new rear exhaust bracket and a couple of new rear bumper brackets. I fitted the new exhaust bracket and then realised that I should have fitted the bumper brackets first, as now the exhaust is back in it's correct position the bumper is now sitting on it due to the bumper sag as the brackets have completely rotted away, It is in need of some fair TLC under the rear end, but no time left to sort that before the racing this weekend.

Well it has been a while since the last update, thought I'd better let you know how I got on. Olive did very well and pulled a 13.8 with all standard trim fitted in the car on the Saturday, but with spills and an accident holding up proceedings, runs were limited and were also limited on Sunday too, with most of us only getting 3 runs in the day, so no real practice time to get into the groove and get a good run. We didn't get to try the new solid shocks as all time was spent queuing for our limited number of runs on both days. Although I managed to beat Tim Williams on the Sunday, he got me back in the return race with an awesome 13.2.

Since then Olive has just been my daily as and when I've needed her and is awaiting a pre season overhaul to sort some niggles and fit the new sensors. New wings would be nice but finding anything the right colour that isn't fully of rot, seems very unlikely, so new fronts will be required, but that then means paint so will be a big job and other stuff should be done at the same time, so that will wait a while longer before she gets a full going over. So here's a few shots from shakey and some from The Mad Welshman who got some shots from a different angle to what I normally have.

Well naughty car yesterday morning, whilst overtaking a slow moving van, I experienced what seemed like fuel starvation. I got passed ok and continued on with caution, but the car was struggling if I pressed the throttle but made it to work, which was another 5 miles. The fuel gauge was dropping alarmingly quick also. Work over I returned to see what was up with her and fired her up, Idle was fluctuating a lot and when driven the afr's went very rich 10's - 8's on light throttle. Stoppped for some shopping and decided to unplug the Lambda senor to see if this helped. Idle returned to normal and the drive was improved, Afr's rose to 11.5's - 9's but still eating fuel I think. I hope to check the codes tonight it time will allow, but just guessing the Lambda sensor has gone.

Right new flash code reader has been manufactured and the codes read and reset. In the days in between the maf was swapped out as well as the lambda sensor, as a stab in the dark cure, which at first appeared to be an improvement, then not so sure and now runs ok, although a full run has not been performed yet (what fun that will be on the way to work this coming monday morning at 5'o clock).

Right codes and explainations in order of logging...

3-1-1 vehicle speed sensor missing ......lol no front abs wiring for a while now ...coming soon but in v70 form to eliminate the nasty wiring connector on the strut

1-2-1 Maf....was unplugged at some point or could be something new ???? think this was way back tbh

4-1-4 Turbo boost pressure too high (haynes) lol .... it's at atmospheric pressure as i run a mbc

2-4-5 IAC closing signal faulty or missing.... unplugged during initial investigations

2-2-3 IAC opening signal faulty or missing.... unplugged during initial investigations

oh well its not likely to be those above, as I'm able to explain them all, so time to drive and see what returns, although I am tempted to try a replacement crank sensor, but will see what happens on the next run, as she's idling nicely on the drive tonight whilst reading the codes and clearing them, only one way to find out.....

The O2 sensor could be faulty without throwing a code.

    How old is it?

Well over ten years old, as I have never changed it in my ownership of the car as far as I can recall, I could dig back through the very comprehensive wad of invoices and have look if the previous owner had it changed, as he'd spent a small fortune on maintaining the car.

Could be dodgy then. You got a spare you can throw in?

So how did it do this morning?

Already swapped the lambda....sort of improvement.

This mornings run was better, but is now steering me to looking for a boost leak, Mil is back on so some fresh codes to read, when I get back tonight.

Well 121 is back , so the swapped in MAF may by iffy, so will have to find another. 311 is back but no surprise there though
