Who knows about V/S40 ECU's..?

Like a fool I bought an upgraded ECU (~220-230BHP) for the V40. I was 't going to tell anyone until I made it to the strip to beat Jaynebabe (again). However of course being Volvo the ECU serial number doesn't match, therefore it doesn't work.

The ECU came out of a 2001 S40 T4 manual which is the same as mine apart from mine being a V40, but the ECU numbers are(working from memory) 263 and 836... (I'll correct them later if they are wrong).

Anyway regardless of the ECU numbers has anyone got any details of what ECU fits what? Does the potential trim level make a difference?

You can get 235bhp approx. by just adjusting the actuator by 4 turns from standard and the afr`s are correct at 19psi because of the intelligent EMS 2000 fuel system on the `98 T4 1855 but this is about it`s limit. The ECU on this model has no cut out limit for boost etc.

You don`t say your engine code for the 2litre ....T3 / T5 etc. The T3 has a cut out or failsafe for boost but i don`t know about the T5 coded engine but you have to fit like for like as the ph 2 has more boost sensors for control because of the more fragile nature of the engine...HG , split liners.

The fuel system is still EMS 2000 but allows for more boost control because of the multitude of sensors.

You know what I don't remember.
I believe it is a 1948cc engine(just had to check with "mycarcheck").

Looking at your sig. 14.5 secs for the 2001 V40 you must be T5 coded engine!
