    Cool Hello everyone!!!

    Hi,

My name is Couper, I have just bought a 1997 manual 940 2.3 LPT Estate and need some tuning advice (see my other posts)

Our family had 10 Volvos years ago (240,340,740 and 940) but moved onto other cars since. However my parents have both bought auto 940 LPT's in the last 6 months. So I decided to join the party!! (go all retro!?)

I am looking to get the same power as my Fiat Coupe's +/- 300 bhp.

The plan is to have both front and rear wheel drive QUICK turbo cars. I think a Volvo estate and Coupe ,when tuned, would provide the best real world 2 car garage for practicality, style, performance and driving fun!!!!

All advice welcome as to the best and cheapest way to get to 250-300bhp out of my red block

I am particularly confused by the wideband AFM / MMR / WIDEBAND LAMBDA - What is it/them? Do I need it/them? and Where do I get them from?

At the moment I have money burning a hole in my pocket and want to order everything I need today so I can get my friend to help me fit them this weekend if possible?

    Thank you

    Welcome aboard

The redblock is a tough motor and doesn't take too much to hit the kind of power you're looking for.I would imagine the wideband stuff would be a good idea if you're planning on running a lot of boost as the average AFM probably wouldn't cope with increased airflow.

Plenty of brains to pick here.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Smithy knows a bit about 940s, at least how to take them apart.

think its a multiple mode resonator. running off 2 02 ports.

not realllllly worth setting one up if you have a good custom tuner....
are you thinking, bigger turbo from a later t5 as such?

My original thought was 300 at the fly. However 300 at the wheels sounds better.

If there is a massive costs difference then I would settle for 300 at the fly.

Which is the sweet spot in terms of cost/performance?

The clutch won't give anything over 250whp mate .19t you will be pushing it hard to get over 300 bhp but a 20g will do it easy if you want to keep with mitsi turbo. Garrett I would go t34 cossie turbo witch is straight bolt on but custom lines .and the downpipe will need doing too but if going turbo change then a 3in exhaust would be good . Then the fuel side Vxr 470 cc injectors with 3 in maf and piping and change the pump if you want to run over 290 bhp .put A or V cam in it if you want high end power but the t cam can keep the torque up very well till it runs out of puff at 5 k rpm .i got over 292 bhp with stock t cam but if I would of changed the cam then that is worth 15 bhp or so .7.5 ton intercooler fits so does rs500 but both need custom piping .if you want fun for now then you could put mbc on turn turbo up to 13/14 psi and then get rid of back box on car and put straight pipe on.also do the air box mod or put a cone on it that little lot will get you over 200 bhp and a very quick motor too .

Will the mitsubish 19T and 20G bolt right up to the exhaust until I was able to get a 3" system?

Why do you prefer the T34?

Would you recommend an electronic boost controller?

    Thank you
