New type upper engine mount. How much movement??

    Hi Chaps

Just wondering how much the new type of upper engine mount should move. The rubber moves around very easily in my mount. I'm sure the last time I fitted one it was quite sturdy??

    What's yours like??
    Thankyou, Goodnight....much love

I was concerned when I got mine, quick vid of the movement in mine:

Since then I've fitted the Powerflex Engine Bar bushes which has restricted the movement considerably.

Ours has quite a bit of movement, and it's the newer square one.

I fitted the Powerflex strut inserts....literally take 10 minutes to install and give an instant improvement in reducing that movement.

The strut inserts help counteract the vibration of the poly top mount, reducing cabin vibration.

I noticed a slight turn-in improvement with them but that's after I polybushed pretty much everything else. Lots of people say it makes no difference at all.

    I noticed it

Oh I never thought it would have reduced cabin vibration, that sounds good. My cousin just had a solid engine mount fitted to his ATR and when you have the AC on and your at idle the whole dash goes mental lol not my cup of tea, it sounds like the car is broken.
    Thanks

If your car idles at 730+ rpm, it doesn't hit resonance. Mine idles at 675rpm and the resonation was what caused the cabin vibration.
