Ha ha, Mike. Trust me...if they look crap they won't stay on the car. TBH, it's just a bit of fun. Something different, a break from the norm etc. I know of nobody else that has done it other than someone in the U.S and to be fair it looked really cool.
If it looks a bit, shall we say....Halfords, then I'll take 'em off. I just think they might add a bit of 'ooooohhh niiiiccceeee!!!' under the bonnet, without decorating the engine bay in LEDs. It will be very subtle...I hope.

Thought I'd update as I've not been here for a while due to recent house move.

My car is currently In Volvo have a massive brakes overhaul. It was never going to pass the MOT in November as the handbrake cables have been seized and binding for many months now. I've just not had time to sort it out, so I basically stopped using the handbrake and just left it parked in 1st. However, It needs to be sorted, obviously. I also wanted to replace the discs as they have now done two sets of pads on the front and I doubt they'll last a third. The rear shoes are also knackered and the brake fluid was picked up on the 144k service as +5% ingress, so that needed to be changed as well....so I have instructed Volvo to do the following at a very preferential rate (cheaper than your average Joe garage)

    1. Remove and replace worn discs and pads (all round) with these...

Genuine Brembo drilled 330mm + Brembo pads

    2. Replace brake fluid with ATE super blue dot5.1 synthetic (already used and I'm supplying)
    3. Replace handbrake shoes with new (dealer supplied)
    4. Replace P2 handbrake adjusters with P1 model adjusters (dealer supplied)
    5. Replace all 3 handbrake cables with new cables (dealer supplied)

Whilst it's in, they have given me a 15 plate V40 D2 R-Design....Nice, but underpowered
I pick it up tomorrow morning.

Due to my moving house, I needed to transport some ladders, so I bought some of Thule's finest Wingbars. At 80mph...absolutely no wind noise!

Finally got rid of my old knob...

    ...and replaced it with.....

I also got round to re routing my TCV to the stock location with some nice new shiny silicone...

Lee looking amazing as ever, your car has always been my favourite v70r.

The big question is how do you manage to get a decent rate from Volvo!
Arguing is pointless....she may not be right but she's never wrong

Tell her a remap is just having your satnav updated.....

Lipscombe have offered cheaper rates for years to those in there club...when i belonged to it in my 960 days the MOT was FREE but they were losing out as all the models were the older ones then and not Fords...Lol

Yes mate. The black vacuum hose that connects the turbo is all new from the dealer and as you well know, the red line is a mother F... to get to on the turbo, so best left alone. The TCV was cable tied to the strut brace when I had my AMS, so that's why the hoses were shorter. I cut them to the same length and joined the silicone at the same fixed point, making for a simple and clean install. Used proper inline hose joiners and hose Spring clips.

I've been a loyal customer to Volvo since 1990, when I bought my first 440 GLT off their forecourt for £8k.
I'm also a member of their 'plus 4 club' which officially gets me 25% off labour and 12% off parts. Unofficially, I have been known to get as much as 66% off labour rate!!

Fitted new under bonnet sound proofing, which has been modified to allow for the OTE pipe and stock airbox. It's very common for the OEM part from production to rub on the OTE bracket and OTE pipe. Part comes with new clips!

CFE removed and updated the software from v9.20 to v9.54.
I'm now able to turn 'on' the approach lighting when I unlock the car. This would previously only work when you pressed the yellow button.
Approach lighting includes front fogs, dipped beam headlights and reverse lights.

Very nice! What did you make? Previous owner already remapped my car but no dyno print. According to owner it's 340BHP and 470NM.

Not had it dyno'd yet mate, thou it's on my new year 'to do' list.
According to BSR, my stage two remap was 354bhp/498NM. I can assure you that the new custom map is exceedingly better than that. It's definately quicker, more responsive, much more boost and definately more torque.

That's interesting. The bonnet lining on mine rubs on the OTE pipe near the front.
