    Well it's been nearly 6 months since I last replaced my bulging, swollen and leaking P/S reservoir and on close inspection, it would appear that it is now leaking....again!!

    So I've decided to replace the reservoir with the newer version from late 06> models;

    First thing to do is cover the working area in towels as it's very easy to flick or spill P/S fluid when syringing it out the reservoir. I was really pleased to see that the fluid is still a really nice clear green, indicating the system is in good health;

    Hoses clamped....

    New reservoir fitted and filled;

    Note:

    When doing this mod, you will also require part# 30740267 £54.92 inc VAT.
    Also required is a litre of Central Hydraulic fluid (MVCHF) £10.50 inc VAT.

    Rear spoiler Brake light LED replacement

    Next thing to do was replace the Brake light in the rear spoiler....

    Note:

    Cars >03 the cable routing is to the left of the rear quarter. 03> it's to the right.
    Mine was routed to the right.

    You'll need to remove the tailgate lower and upper trim. Unscrew the 4 torque screws, two at the bottom of the tailgate and two at the sides. Then pull the trim away from the car. If any of your yellow push button trim clips are missing or broken then they should be replaced before refitting, otherwise your trim may rattle.
    The upper trim has the same yellow button trim clips, 4 in total. Start from the sides and pull inwards then pull the trim up and away from the rear window....easy!

    Next...locate the brake LED wiring harness in the middle of the tailgate upper part of the door (at eye level). Should have a green plug;

    Unplug and detach from it's mounting.

    Next you need to cut of the LED part of the wiring as close to the lamp as possible. DO NOT PULL THE WIRING THROUGH THE BODY YET!!!!

    Next; secure the end of the wiring lume from the new lamp to the wiring you just cut. Make sure you use very sticky tape, folding the ends of the wire over so it cannot pull free of the tape. <<<<IMPORTANT!

    Unclip the old wiring lume from its mounting points and remove the soft foam plug from the right side of the spoiler. Once the cable is free....

    Carefully pull, from the green plug end, the old cable through making sure you feed the new cable through the spoiler. Extreme care is needed to make sure that the cables do not snag or pulled too hard. If the new cable becomes detatched before it reaches the hole on the right side of the spoiler.....you're F@@ked!

    Old versus new...Old lamp is full of water (bottom lamp)

    Once the new cable is through, re attach the clips and secure. Refit the foam grommet and secure the lamp in place using the two torques screws. Refit the blanking covers, refit Tailgate trim and torque screws in reverse order.

    Test the lamp....

    Enjoy a nice hot coffee and a Jammy dodgem (on a cold winters day) and try not to stare at your new, really bright LED brake light!

    iPhone 6 Brodit dock iMiV bluetooth

    Several ppl have been asking me now about connectivity of the iPhone to the car. There are pictures of my iMiV classic installed in my car on this thread but none of the iPhone 6 in situ.

    So, without further ado...

    The brodit holder is a simple cradle that is adjustable and supports all iPhone 6's in various bumper cases.
    It has a lightning charging dock and the cable is USB and plugs straight into an adaptor in the cig' lighter.
    The Bluetooth dongle is connected to the 5m cable that is supplied by Volvotech and is connected to the iMiV and is hidden under the left side of the center console, below the Gear knob. Connection is seamless and you get an audible 'beep', when the phone is connected, via the Vehicle speakers.

    When i had 4wd and gearbox serviced last year, Stuart from SW Autos used redline.

    What's the difference between 75W90 NS GL-5 and 75W140?

    BSR badge removal and Tailgate badge refresh

    Now my car no longer has the BSR remap, I thought it was only prudent to remove the BSR badge from the tailgate. Also, as my car has the 05> rear lights, I thought it would look better having the badges the same as 05> models do...

    No. It's #30645621 Reservoir.

    #30740267 is indeed the pipe, which you WILL need as the older pipe is a different shape and wont fit the reservoir nor the routing.

    Starter Motor

    Things on hold for the minute as the car is in at the Dealer today having a new starter motor fitted.

    Had dead 'mans click' last week and it wasn't the battery or loose connections. Gave the starter solenoid a tap and she fired up.

    Hopefully collect it this afternoon.
