Real world mpg for a V40 T4 auto?

Looking to get the wife a car to replace the V70 R thats died and she's seen a V40 T4 auto on an X plate with 115k, my concern is that it's going to heavy on fuel and what sort of things go wrong with these?

We've had two before but they were new a 1.8 which had a crap engine which we got Volvo to exchange for the 125GDI engined model which was better.

    Many thanks in advance

i have had one of these and you can easily get 35mpg if you go steady, usual checks for suspension knocks and oil leaks and pcv etc, oh they are alot of fun very quick alot of wheelspin if you put your toe down too much

Things to go wrong ain't much different to your V70.

If you've had other V40 you'll know that the build isn't quite in the same league as the 750/70 series.

Well we've bought it so lets its hope it gives a good a service as the R did, yes the front suspension knocks a bit on the drivers side so top mounts will need doing.

    Which this space. Thanks guys.

In my t4 auto i used to manage 25-28mpg on short journeys, even managed 38mpg on a run once. It was LOADS better on fuel than my s70r auto
