    Rear/boot 12v power point

Bit of an odd one this.
I'm sure i've read on here somewhere about someone having trouble with the 12V power outlet in the boot on P2's. Just been to use mine and it didn't work. Took side panel off, found the wire and connection for it, coiled up with masking tape wrapped round it like it's never been used and connector looks unused/new.
Plugged it in and works fine now.
Did someone in the factory forget to plug these in or something? just seems odd. The Masking tape looked really old, i'd say about 13 years old

Unless its been replaced "on the quick" or the socket connections have been used for something else?
