    Exclamation Dashboard DTC 'Set' Messages

I've used the 'hidden' diagnostic tool on the car this morning (press read followed my the rear fog lamp button twice), and I got the following letters followed by "DTC Set". Is this normal or have I got a whole bunch of electrical issues.......

    ECM (errrr, throttle body!?)
    CEM
    CCM
    PSM
    REM

    I have 'checking' messages for....

    DDM
    PDM
    VEM

What the heck does all this translate to? Anyone with some knowledge of these codes would be useful. I assume the 'M' stands for module? I'm hoping to shed some light on why the car won't start properly and why my boost keeps dropping off and surging, I'm pretty sure the later is down to an ETM fault, the same as Leeds_Finest (Ed) had on his.

Errrrr there's a list somewhere on the forum but I'd recommend never doing that again! Mine comes up with a load of crap that is mainly irrelevant to my car (stereo etc). the problem with ti is it'll not just show a fault but show if there's been a fault, even a small glitch which sorted itself in seconds, so it'll be telling you things are wrong when in actual fact they're probably fine.

Looking at the codes, they all end in 'M' this is not for module but Micra, it is telling you that you are no longer qualified to drive a Volvo and should px it at the earliest opertunity, for Nissans finest,

MRP in a ££££let, James in a Micra, what is this, get the biggest blokes in the smallest cars? Does it work in reverse? Should Frankie get something like a X5, oh hang on.

FWIW, "Set" means there's a fault. "checking" means just that but not all modules finish checking for some reason and "ready" means it's checked the module and is happy there's no problems with it.

Did you keep pressing the read button to cycle through the modules?

So, in answer to the OP...

James you have or have had faults with your ECU (ECM), Central Electronic Module (CEM), Climate control (CCM),Front seat module (PSM) and your rear electric module (REM).
Remember, these may only be intermittent faults that have cleared themselves or may be current.

James, you really need to invest in Vida and a DICE. They are roughly £100 on the bay and will answer most if not all of your electrical questions. there is even something on there to reset the throttle as well so if you are having ETM errors you should be able to sort them.
It is a cracking bit of kit.
If you was closer you could happily come and plug it into mine and see what they all say

Some of the codes could be from ages ago, just stored to help diagnose any faults.

    * CEM - Central electric module
    * PSM - Power seat module.

sorry to be pathetic but i like attention to detail .

normally, all cars have loads of fault codes if they have not been to a dealer in a while, what is needed is to get down to ones with are current or just logged.
the button reading method unfortunately only gives a brief glimpse.
