Took a picture of how i got the rear spring out, not the bottle jack! ingenious solution!

And on another note, The car had massive knocking noises from the rear and i couldn't fathom what the hell was making the noises!!! Turns out, whichever numpty had changed the rear pads last had put the metal clip/spring on wrong, the long bit was on the outer edge of the caliper so there was no tension at all which meant the pad was vibrating/shaking in the caliper!! So i took the clip off and fitted it correctly (picture) and the rattle has gone!

I will get some pics of how car looks later on hopefully!

Cool! I used a bar to push the hub down, when that didn't work, I undid the lower arm.

I did that with my front brakes - SERIOUSLY hampers braking performance lol.

Ahhh ok, my C70 which i intend to lower soon looks the same as my old 850. I wondered if the p2 v60 s60 were different by the way you described it.

V60 is P3 and uses Mondeo suspension

The C70 is largely based on the 850 with a few differences to make it look like they tried lol

Is it really much harder on P2? I want to do my C70 soon, i had a look underneath my C70 the other week and it looks exactly the same to me. I sure i can do the whole thing in a few hours no trouble. Is V70 different?
I didn't use spring compressors on my C70, just jack the rear of the car up, undo the nut that holds the coil spring in its' seat (18mm i.i.r.c.) with another jack, jack up under the rear coil spring to take the tension of the shock/damper, undo the bottom shock nut, and pull it off the stub(you may need to loosen the 2 top bolts on the shock top mount to allow enough movement, I was changing shocks anyway so took them right out) then just lower the jack under the spring, and pull said spring out (It'll need a bit of levering, but isn't under any tension, so no danger). Transfer the upper spring seat and bump stop onto your new spring, replace new spring then bolt up the lower spring mount, jack it back up, whilst guiding the bump stop and upper spring mount back into place, refit the shock back onto the stub and bolt up, release the jack from under the spring, and job done, you don't even need to take the wheels off.

I've got a before and after with mine using the same springs if anyone is interested. Oh and I agree about the rear springs being a little tricky.

Well after a couple of weeks all is well, apart from one little niggle...

The rear has developed a squeek, firstly on the passenger now tonight its started on both sides... needles to say its VERY annoying!

Im wondering if the springs are rubbing the cups or something. Or maybe i've fitted the springs upside down (if possible). there were more turns on one end compared to the other (see photo) and thats how i fitted them. Perhaps i should turn them around??

Any suggestions would be of help!

Changed the springs the right way round and put a load o grease there, took her for a test drive and she's still squealing like a bitch! I noticed one shock was alot easier to compress than the other. Signs of a worn shock?! Would that make it squeak??

Replaced the 2 rear shocks as they seemed pretty passed their best. Thankfully the rattles/squeaks have completely gone!

I opted for some standard Monroe shocks, seemed good value for money!
