I am looking for some advice/analysis please. My 1999 V70 Ph1 auto (Denso) with 177,000 miles is starting to become a bit of a problem. Every morning, or when the car has sat for two or three hours she starts on the first turn of the key, but sometimes you have to be more persistent than at other times and it takes a little longer than it should for the car to fire up and when she does engage, the idle is lumpy and whilst all 5 cylinders are firing, it is not idling smoothly as it should be.
When I move off there is a distinct blue smoke (oil??) coming from the exhaust, this does not last for long and there is absolutely no smoke at any other time and in fact so far as I am aware, the car uses very little oil. Just one other thing that may or may not be connected, I am having to top up the cooling system every two or three hundred miles, though there is no obvious leak from anywhere that I can see.
From what I have read I am guessing that the PCV system needs a service and with the miles that she has covered, I would expect that this is more than overdue. This maybe a guess on my part and perhaps there is something more obvious that I need to focus my attentions on, so does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions, I need to get this sorted as soon as possible, the car had a full service in December 2012 which included new filters and plugs among all of the other things that went into that service.
Any suggestions for a reasonable Volvo V70 PH1 specialist in Suffolk/Norfolk.
I'd be grateful for any help.
James.
