    Show me your MAF

    Hi guys,
Just had my MAF sensor out for a clean as part of trying to sort my misfire. Happy to say I had it out, sprayed with cleaner, dried, touched NOTHING I shouldn't, put it back and all seems to be working. Haven't had chance to go for a proper run and see if it has made any difference yet though - shouldn't think so, looked pretty spotless.

However... This is what it looked like.

All pictures I can find on line suggest that there should be something across the two contact points. Sorry if I'm a little dumb but I'm no expert clearly.

Am I missing something? Does it vary between applications. Have any of you had your MAF out recently?

I have had my MAF out on many occasions!!
Anyway, your MAF is how it should look. The second picture is a MAF, but not like ours. All MAFs are different.
When you go out for a spin, give it the beans for a few miles then go home and switch car off. Leave for 10 minutes and then do the same again. If you still have a problem, it will reveal itself afterwards.
You might get lucky and a good clean has sorted all your problems, but don't count on it!
Let me know how you get on, as I have a weak MAF, but it does not yet cause a misfire.

    Cheers,
Haven't managed to do exactly what you said but on a quick blast... No difference.
Have a few parts loaned by volvokid to swap in next and see if they help ( fuel and boost pressure sensors).

Problem is a hesitation at 5k, slight gruff note. There in 3rd, gone in 4th since Terraclean.
Wasn't sure but today I got the impression that is was more when I hit 3rd from high revs in 2nd and less when running up through 3rd from low revs. Will experiment more tomorrow. Also have a hint of judder when manual shifting down into 3rd during braking. Starting to wonder if it is the box.
Still I'll continue with trial and error until I need to start to spend cash.
