Grom USB and HU603 - head unit fried??

I've had a Grom USB unit fitted for a while, and it is very good.
Linked via Bluetooth to my phone, it's always worked fine.

I recently decided to attach a USB drive as well.

This also worked fine, until yesterday.
When I turned the ignition on, there was a loud clicking noise.
    I disconnected the USB drive.

The noise stopped, but now the CD and CD-Changer options via the Source button have vanished!

I've raised a ticket at Grom, but I was wondering if this sounds like the head unit is fried.

when I fitted my grom in my Volvo s60 I had to reboot the head unit by leaving it disconnected for 15min then reconnected it to get the cd-changer on source button, had disconnected a few time before but only a couple of mins , unit had to go totally to sleep

    Brilliant.
Disconnected the battery for a bit.
