    S60 D5 Dyno Day - Results

Took the D5 for it's Dyno session today at Motorsport Developments Blackpool using their brand new Dyno Dynamics 4wd Rollers. An impressive set up...

It hurts me to post this last one......

As you can see...I would be better off driving a 1.3 cdti Corsa []

I honestly can't understand the figures, the car pulls strong and I feel it's reasonably quick. But not according to the figures []

I understand there are losses through the transmission and the geartronic probably consumes more than the manual version. During the session, they found the geartronic would kickdown from 3rd to 2nd even though it was in 'Manual' mode - so they had to start the run in 4th then letting it kick down to 3rd....

Please be subtle as I'm feeling fragile at the moment knowing that my Berlingo van has more HP.

Those figures are at the wheels BUT I still think it should be more.....perhaps I'm expecting too much. lol

dyno people should know to lock it in winter then put it in 3 thrn it will pull away in 3 and wont change up, donuts, is your car standard 163bhp? 38bhp loss is normal through an auto especially

It does seem a little low for a mapped car, looking at all the gear you'd have thought they would have known how to run an auto.

I know the D5's are prone to popping intercoolers, there's no obvious evidence of this BUT I keep thinking perhaps it's the IC that's split.....I just don't know. As I've said, the car drives well and pulls strong - wish I'd never taken it today lol

its normally obvious by the black smoke if the intercoolers leaking, blame it on a iffy dyno lol

I recon the dyno just can't understand the slushmatic - and the slushmatic is only happy when it's on a road. I've been in a mapped D5 (2002) and it was nearly as quick as my T5. Don't know if you've been in a P2 T5 Steve but it would be a good comparison for you to decide if you have a problem.

I still think it's the slushmatic/dyno combination that's the problem mate.

She looked real nice on the rollers BTW, exhaust note is nice n fruity too

Why did they run it in 3rd anyway, thought it should be 4th on a 5spd box.

Dyno I use is dynodaze in Hinckley, Leicstershire and they have experience with autos having done my dads mitsubishi galant V6 and my BMW 530d (both autos).
They measure the drag from gearbox and callibrate to each car as different size wheels affects rotational speed of the rollers giving differing power figures.
I'm going there on Sunday to see if my cars squiggley power graph is fixed and see what my brothers mondeo V6 auto has. Should try them as only people I trust with my cars and only £30 for 2 runs with print out

Not sure how it works on a geartronic, wondering how i'd get a dyno reading in my car now?? How did they get your merc to stay in gear when it was done?
