    S60R brembo Rear Caliper Seals

    Hi All,

I am in the process of rebuilding my S60R rear brembo calipers however i can not locate a stockist for the seals. Everyone just wants me to buy a new caliper or exchange the old one.

Does anyone have any ideas where i can get the seal kit from?

My local volvo doesn't supply them

    Cheers
    Andy

There's loads of brembo rebuild kits on fleabay, If you have the part number of the caliper search "brembo #part number# rebuild kit" and see what comes up

    Hi MRP,

Tried that and didn't get any where, all i got where loads of bike seal kits.

I tried loads of different things.

volvo gave me these part numbers

    N/S/R 8602684
    O/S/R 8602685

yet the caliper has a part stamp of 30665550/51 LH/RH

    and seal references of

    204872 41 and 40

But ebay brings me up nothing.

I did find a company in America but the shipping plus parts was £200 quid. At that price i would just get them sent off to get rebuilt.

Any ideas? or even a link would be great

Good luck with that. By the way, i sincerely hope you know the correct torque setting for the calipers once you put the two halves back together?? Volvo don't know because they don't ever strip the calipers and BREMBO will not tell you either because they want you to send the caliper to them so that they can do it, oh, that's if they even offer you any support for the R caliper. AFAIK Brembo stopped that in 2007 when Volvo stopped production of the R.
If you don't torque them correctly you will either damage the alloy body and strip the fragile threads or they will leak and all your efforts will be in vain.

I had Volvo replace my calipers with new ones as the seals were not the problem and to be honest 'it never is'.
The problem was the small stainless steel guide plate screw hole. Corrosion set in....the alloy swells and the plate moved, squeezing the ends of the brake pads and causing the caliper to bind. Three of my calipers have done it so far and i know its a matter of time before the last one does it.

New caliper seals won't fix that!
