    Carbon Fiber Dipping ?

A guy told me of a Company who do Carbon Fiber Dipping.... Basically they Dip your Part in some sort of Liquid and it comes out Looking Like Carbon Fiber. I went to see them today, their work was Impressive to say the least. They can do any colour even put Gold Flecks if i wanted to match Bube, expensive though £35 a Wing Mirror, £120 Front Splitter and that was only a guess...

Has anyone else heard of this ?

I am Slightly Tempted as it would be like a Spray Job and not Tear or Peel off.

I was very impressed Graham, although like Martin said it has no texture like the Wrapped stuff Martin has done it was just like a spray job. I was kinda thinking of having the Wing Mirrors and Splitter done and the 3 Black mesh bits on the front of the Grill.

Damn expensive though... I will try and go again next week and take some pics for you to look at

The mirrors and splitter can be wrapped but it might be best to dip the grilles

But that's how it should be, that's why i don't like the carbon wrap, it looks totally fake, real carbon fiber is completely smooth because it has a gel coat.

Thats what i was thinking Colin... Because we are all so used to seeing the Fake Stuff when you see something of better Quality it takes some getting used to.

When I worked for Honda they had an F1 car on show for 2 weeks and the Carbon Fiber was smooth just like this stuff.... You could push the car with 1 Finger it was so light !

You can get all the stuff to do it yourself off ebay for about £50 or much less

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1710209869...84.m1423.l2649

I'm going to get some and have a go at dipping my inlet manifold.

But the real carbon has depth to it. The dip is 2D and doesn't give the textured look you get from the other methods.

    I see 4 choices

    1. A real carbon fiber component (obviously the best)
    2. carbon fiber skinning (looks just like the real thing)
    3. Water dipping (looks very similar to the real thing)
4 Carbon fiber vinyl wrap (looks exactly like what it is)

I would still prefer a wrap to wood effect on the interior, but I don't think it looks right unless it has a high gloss on exterior components.

EDIT: I am in no way dissing your work Martin, I think it's fantastic, it just depends on what effect your after.
