    Gggrrrr

    So earlier I was hunting for the noise AGAIN, I lean over and rest on the timing belt cover without thinking and here a grating noise (for litteraly a second as I jumped back) as the belt cover caught the belt whilst moving, SHOULD I REPLACE THE TIMING BELT AGAIN ??

    Take the front cover off and inspect it,shouldn`t be any damage tbh

    I couldnt see any damage, but its difficult to see alway around the belt

    I'm inclined to suggest if your in any doubt then it's best for the cost of the belt to replace it over the cost of 20 valves and maybe more....

    Sod's law says it will be fine if you do replace it, but won't be if you choose to ignore it... the chances are its touched on the prouder fin type parts of the inner belt cover... It's your choice but it it was my luck and my car I'd put a belt on before the car decided it needed one.. Lol

    I took the cover off an Audi A4 about a year ago, the belt had been rubbing against a loose bracket and had worn down from 30mm wide to less than 5mm, and the car still ran fine, you would not believe how strong a timing belt is. I might even have a pick of it somewhere.

    Take the cover off and spin the engine slowly at the crank and have a good look at the belt.It should be something sharp and hard to cause any damage.The belts designed to last 80k so they are not a chewing gum made.If still in doubt get a new one and get a walking stick to lean on next time

    Idler pulley bracket was bent, and wore the belt away over time, but the care came in with a gearbox problem, the engine was running fine, we just noticed the black powder all over the front of the engine, so we took the belt cover off, and that was what we saw.
