    Should I buy or not???

    Hi all,
I went for a test drive in a V70 2.4 Auto, and it's a really clean car, with service history. It's done about 120k, but I noticed that the gear change is sort of hard when it changes into 2nd. It kind of thumps when changing, but only in 2nd...
So the big question, is it a cheap fix, or should I just move on to another car??? The present owner said it might just need a gearbox service, or gear oil change. Don't no whether to believe him or not, or is the gearbox on it's way out?
    Please Help...
    Thanks

Tell the owner you will buy it if he does the so called small repair first.

If it's pre 2004 then run away!

Besides, the fuel economy and running costs will be the same as a T5 manual but without the looming fear of impending transmission failure - no brainer really.

cheap for a reason. Either chip the owner some more due to the gearbox issues, source a 2nd hand one after the purchase or walk away.

As Dave said, see if you can knock him down some more or try and get him to fix it, it could just be something simple like a shot mounting

Could be anything from software to valves, oil change not always good might built up pressure and open a can of worms?
If you are not happy with the way it shifted just leave it,Volvo auto box are awsome and reliable remember my P2 is auto and got 305K but if you get a bad box they are expensive to sort out,so my advise stay clear of that one and trust me I sell 20plus Volvo a month lol
