Sorry to hear your thinking of selling it Andy but it is good to see it back on the road, it was good to have a read and catch up on your thread!
I would just say before you buy a set AP for Astronomical money see if you can get hold of Steadman I think he lives out your way he is using 302's with carbotech XP8s in! Yes they squeal from cold but my god do they work well!
Also have you thought about a Brembo Kit with S60R front disks they last so much longer than the AP's I run Brembos with DS2500 and after 2 years of track days and road use they are still ok? don't ask me how? I do how ever have Brembo 4 pots all round with DS2500's so that may have something to do with it?

But glad your up and running!

    Cheers Greg

Don't worry Greg I'm not selling just yet, have heard mixed reports about the wear on the AP's but I've always wanted AP's and tbh having driven 2 cars with AP's fitted it's something I need to do..

The set up I'll go for will be AP's with DS2500 pads on the front and standard rear volvo set up with DS2500 rear pads. Don't worry there was plenty of man maths applied

Little update, done just over 1,500 miles since I've got the car back so have decided to have the engine and autobox oils changed again, yes very early but I want them done before I take the car to the Ring..

Also going to have the AP's fitted to the front and have the rear brakes overhauled at the same time, a few other small bits to be done like new wipers and I'll get the brake reservoir replaced while the brakes are in bits as it's looking very discoloured next to the new coolant header tank...

Anyway before that happens towards the end of the month one thing that has been bugging me is the bonnet, from a distance it looks fine but up close it's littered with chips and scratches which has really been highlighted since I had the bumpers repainted before the engine was done...
So that's in the bodyshop at the moment having the bonnet sorted

Stripped waiting for bonnet to be removed.. Chips not evident in this shot..

Close up showing the chips clearly...

    Bonnet off..

Work in progress as of end of play today

Will update with more pictures as things progress

Trust me it will be worth the wait, driven a few AP equipped 850's now and the feed back through the brake pedal is fantastic, can't wait to have mine fitted, that and the current setup is quite frankly shocking now! Lol
What colour callipers did you opt for in the end as I know you were considering a colour change when we spoke about it at the RR day...

Had them changed to red in the end, but at a hefty cost, (£400)didn't realise it was such a big job to paint them, but ive been told they look good. I opted for standard AP pads as i doubt it will go on a track, and i put in some race brake fluid, courtesy of work

Ah right so you opted for red that's bound to look good against the colour of the car too! Yes if done correctly the calipers are stripped right down prepared and painted with a specific paint type. I've been looking into do this as well, the standard AP colours are red, yellow or black. I don't want the red or yellow as they're a little too loud compared to the cars colour and black isn't obvious enough so I'm thinking about going silver with the AP racing lettering in black.. It's a change from the gold I've currently got but I think it would be a little Nissan 350Z if I have the AP's redone in gold so that's when I felt silver would look good, and it's the colour that Volvo use for the late R's so a gentle nod to the later car? Will have the rear calipers stripped and professionally redone on silver to match I think
Pads wise I'm going with DS2500's and will get then for the front an rear as I think it would be nice to have the matching pads front and rear?

Thanks Graham, it's now polished and on the car, had to get the wing tops done as well to blend but it's come out well, just waiting on the final polishing of the headlight panels then I can refit it all, clean it and take some pictures to bore everyone, I've also had a step in the right direction about another "change" I'm going to be making to the car, all will hopefully be revealed soon once final testing is done, no it's not a manual conversion but I think it's tasteful and I'm sure you'll approve

Well got the car back from the bodyshop last night and refitted the sound deadening, grille washers, wipers etc and it's looking miles better. Needs cleaning as I told then not to bother as I have my own methods. Will stick some pictures up over the weekend once clean
