No nothing changed on the suspension, James. Seems to depend on the surface I park on, those shoes has the front end going up a slope slightly, not sure if that's why?

Seeing this yesterday gave my bank balance a shudder, everything is done correctly, no shortcuts, even down to the smallest details, this car is epic in every way.

I look forward to owning it

Thanks Neal, your comments are greatly received. It's good to know there's a list of potential owners growing although I think V70Grahams offer of £1750 and his car was quite a strong offer lol

Anyway with the weather being absolutely shocking and the car having done around 350 miles in the filth I thought it would be a good idea to make the most of the sunny weather and give the car a spruce up and get it look back to how it was pre-HLM trip..

I'll argue this to the hill there's a definite case to be made for utilising a decent brand of polish/wax. Cleaning the car today was a lot easier than I thought it would be, currently it's got Meguires Cleaner Wax, Poor Boys SSR-1 and Poor boys Natty Paste Wax blue attempting to protect the paintwork from the elements and this was the beading I had when rinsing the car off before washing...

Then after an hour or so the car was looking better again so much so that I just had to go for a spin, radio up climate on auto with the a/c on, probably the last time I'll need that this year lol, was the best 30 mins drive I've had in ages.
Did manage to pull over and take a few shots so I could update the thread with the latest engine bay pictures showing the new brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir but I didn't want to waste the sunshine so the shots were limited. Also being in Essex there are a few private airfields with nice smooth service roads, I managed to seek the permission of a guy while out and about to open the car up a little, but only with moderate throttle just to show how effortless the engine produces it's power. With the gearbox in economy mode and the changes occurring at around 4,600 rpm the car moves more than adequately to keep up with modern traffic but it's nice knowing that if you want to pass modern traffic there's still a fair amount in reserve. I have filmed this but for some reason I'm having issues uploading the video, kickdown is quite addictive, although I tend to rarely find the need to use it as half throttle acceleration is usually all that's needed, next time I'm out I'll try filming the car in kickdown as well.

Anyway until I can get the video uploaded here are a few shots from today.

How the engine bay now looks with the new master cylinder and reservoir.

This would probably be a better shot without the reflections.. Lol

Interior, excuse my trance CD's in the door pocket, and yes I am that said the coin holder is full of £1 coins and yes the were cleaned before I put them in there and yes they are all lined up and yes thank you it is OCD to another level...

Lol, thanks, I used to level the centre caps on the Orion. I had to stop doing it towards the end because they started feeling a little loose and you couldn't buy them new from Ford anymore. That's something I won't do on the Volvo .. Lol

It's not bad, goes better with full throttle but I actually prefer not to trash the nuts out of it everytime I drive it

So I've now departed from my position within the local Volkswagen dealership, in favour of something still in connection with the motor trade but not at dealership level, now working on behalf of a more luxurious and also rugged group of manufacturers. It now means that as a result of the job change I've now handed back the company car.
This now means that both 850's will now be seeing a bit more action, the T5 being my daily work hack and the R for everything else socially. As a result of the change just before I left behind the luxury of a workshop with ramps I decided to treat the car to a slightly earlier than usual oil and filter change using a genuine Volvo filter of course..

And this engine oil as I've always used for the last 8 years ..

Using the car more of course means it gets a heck of a lot more dirt than normal, but better it gets dirty being driven than sat at the side of the road I guess... Must confess I'm really enjoying the daily usage of the car and have found the economy of it to be better than the T5 imho. Choosing where to park and where not to go to make sure the damage limitations are at there lowest is a little bit of a pain, didn't have to worry so much with the company car, but still it's been nice. Oddly it's amazing how much attention the car gets when I'm out and about driving it; that could be due to going everywhere in reverse of course.. lol

In any case this is where I'm at with the car atm, part of me thinks the new year will see both the T5 and R traded up for a newer Volvo so going down to 1 car that can double as the daily but also the enjoyable social driver and the other half is thinking I'm actually enjoying the fact that I've been forced to drive the R and actually enjoying the use as a result instead of looking at it all the time but not using it... Time will tell I guess..

In the meantime proof that I've been using it...

Not that it stayed dirty for long

Andy looking lovely, nice to find you enjoying it in this weather, If I had another car im pretty sure ours would be SORN over the winter but alas it's our daily drive And sits outside in all types of weather. Think I'd miss driving ours if it went away over the winter though

Sterling work as usual though, looks a million dollars.
